Udine Design Week is part of a network which includes several important though peripheral towns like Venice, Florence, Varese, Palermo, Matera and others.

Our format: Udine as an open‐air design museum, the shop windows like the museum showcases.

UDINE DESIGN WEEK Identity card

Mission:Enhancing Udine through exhibitions and events that stimulate commercial activities and public bodies to share the cultural intentions of the Museum of Design of Friuli Venezia Giulia, MuDeFri.Udine Design Week distinguishes itself from other events by its characteristic of calling tuttia work on a single theme and for the commitment to spread the culture of the project to the public. To do this it aims to get out of the places where design traditionally resides such as schools, specialist shops, professional offices, companies and enter the living fabric of the city, to make the Made in Italy known by creating consensus and support for Italian manufacturers, often better known outside than in the territory of belonging.
History:‐ In 2010‐2011 a major exhibition held in the Museo Civico Chiesa di San Francesco, in Udine, mapped the design production of Friuli Venezia Giulia. A reduction of the same went subsequently in a private space (Cumini Arredamenti), at the airport of Ronchi dei Legionari (Trieste) and at the Design Museum of London. It is the first edition of Udine Design Week. Our logotype was designed for that occasion.‐ In 2016 was founded the Design Museum of Friuli Venezia Giulia, MuDeFri, (registered trademark), a virtual museum part of the MuDe network started by the Museum of Tuscan Design, MuDeTo.‐ In 2017 the MuDeFri activates Udine Design Week (registered trademark). The first pilot edition had 10 locations and starts immediately with quality events, no funding but the patronage of Italian Design Day.‐ The 2018 edition doubled the locations, tripled the events, obtained public financing and private sponsorships. The Municipality actively participates allowing us the use of public spaces.‐The 2019 edition (2‐9 March) collected 62 subscriptions, scheduled 70 events, had 40 supporters. It was a great success. ‐‐ Next edition will have the support of the main Italian Industrial Association, Confindustria.
