Most advanced specialty care close to homeUniversity of Colorado Hospital is committed to making care more accessible to the community.

• University of Colorado Hospital opened its Lone Tree Breast Center, which joined the Lone Tree Surgery Center and Lone Tree Health Center in anchoring University of Colorado Hospital’s services in the southern metro-Denver area.

• The UCHealth Eye Center reopened in 2015 and is one of the largest eye centers in the nation. Located on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, the academic-based eye center offers highly specialized care for patients.

• In a clinical trial pilot with UCHealth’s Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, University of Colorado Hospital launched the state’s first-ever Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit, one of just three such programs and vehicles in the United States. This advanced vehicle is like an emergency department on wheels, allowing stroke diagnosis and administration of blood clot-busting medications while en route to the hospital, rather than waiting until after the patient arrives.

Building community connectionsUniversity of Colorado Hospital is committed to strengthening the communities it serves and improving lives. Some examples of our efforts include:

• University of Colorado Hospital is one of five organizations working with the Metro Community Provider Network, a nonprofit organization that provides health care and education services to the under-insured, to implement a new model of care aimed to help frequent emergency department and hospital users find a medical home.

• University of Colorado Hospital and the Center for Women’s Health Research’s “Let’s Talk” community education quarterly lecture series hones in on health education for women. More than 1,000 women from the Denver Metro Area attended the seminars in 2015.

Moving care forwardHighlighting a commitment to advancing personalized medicine, UCHealth, the CU School of Medicine, CU Denver, Children’s Hospital Colorado and University Physicians, Inc., launched the Center for Personalized Medicine and Biomedical Informatics in April 2014. The new center is backed by a five-year investment of approximately $80 million from all partners, including $41 million from UCHealth.

Hospital is the primary adult teaching hospital for the University of Colorado professional schools.

• The University of Colorado medical research enterprise surrounding University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus attracted $420 million in research funding in 2015.*
