Dear Student,

A warm welcome from the UCD Career Development Centre team to the 2015 Science, Engineering & Technology Recruitment Fair. Over the past year, the Career Development Centre has seen significant growth in internship and graduate job opportunities across many sectors of the Irish economy with areas such as IT and Engineering making particularly strong recovery and growth. While students face strong competition for internship and graduate jobs, it is the case that many employers experience difficulty in filling the vacancies they have both in Ireland and internationally. Remember to maximise your chances of success by making the most of your internships, work experience and co-curricular activities when making applications and attending interviews.

My message to UCD’s students is to be proactive - ask questions at our Fairs, resist the temptation to only collect recruitment brochures at this Fair. Through networking effectively you will be able to identify potential employment opportunities. By working with staff at the Career Development Centre you will learn how to recognise and develop the skills employers want and be able to construct an effective application and prepare for interviews.
