A Publication of Hobe Sound Christian Academy F rom the desk of the principal... Today is the 159th birthday of eodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. Roosevelt had an extremely diverse resumé including Harvard graduate, police commissioner, cowboy, soldier, naval expert, Nobel Peace Prize winner, explorer, governor of New York, Vice President, and President of the United States. However, most of us first encountered President Roosevelt’s legacy in a different way. In 1902, a toy maker received President Roosevelt’s permission to name a toy aſter him – the Teddy Bear. Roosevelt was a voracious reader, and he leſt some words of wisdom for us to follow. He wrote that “a thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.” Roosevelt understood that while education is important, nothing is more important than having a deep understanding of God and His Word. O ur PTF Walkathon raised over $23,000! C ongratulations to all of the FACCS Regional Spelling Bee winners! T he high school Senior class is excited to offer HSCA families the opportunity of purchasing coupon books “Save Around Treasure Coast.” You can stop by the office to purchase one for $20. I s your child struggling to finish their homework? Do they find themselves bored aſter school? Would they benefit from extra practice with reading? Would you like to see them learning journalism skills? We have a wonderful opportunity for you! Sign up for one of the aſter school clubs developed by the education department of Hobe Sound Bible College! L ifetouch will be here Monday, November 6, for Picture Retake Day. Any student who wishes to have their picture retaken may do so on this day. Also, any student or faculty member who was not here on the first photo day will also need to be photographed for the yearbook. We have portrait order forms available in the office if you wish to purchase these photos and payment must accompany your order. T he High School Junior Class is having a volleyball tournament on November 4. e cost is $35 per team (3-4 players per team). Please sign up in the academy office. T he Junior Class is selling pumpkin rolls for $10 each. Please send your orders and payment to the office by Monday, November 6. You can see the attached order form for further details. T here will be no school on November 9-10 for the entire academy while the teachers attend the FACCS Teacher’s Convention. J ust a friendly reminder that there will be no aſtercare on November 8. T he benefit auction for our school will be November 3. e dinner will be BBQ Pork or Chicken.
