En su primera carta el apóstol Pedro describe varios aspectos del cristiano, comenzando con la conversión y terminando con la recompensa final

In his first letter the apostle Peter describes various aspects of the Christian, beginning with conversion and ending with the final reward.


1:3, El cristiano es persona que ha renacido. Dios, “según su grande misericordia nos ha hecho nacer de nuevo”. Se refiere a la conversión.

1:3, The Christian is a person that has been born again. God, “according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again.” Refers to conversion.


A. Se basa en Juan 3:5, “De cierto, de cierto te digo que a menos que uno nazca de agua y del Espíritu, no puede entrar en el reino de Dios”.

Los casos de conversión en Hechos explican esto: oír el evangelio, creer, arrpentirse, confesar a Cristo, ser bautizados para perdón de pecados.

The cases of conversion in Acts explain this: hear the gospel, believe, repent, confesss Christ, be baptized for the remission of sins.

1:3, El cristiano tiene una esperanza viva. No es vana o hueca, sino viva, activa. El mundo pagano era mundo sin esperanza (Efes. 2:12).

1:3, The Christian has a living hope. It is not vain or empty, but alive, active. The pagan world was a world without hope (Eph. 2:12).


1 Cor. 15:51, “todos seremos transformados, en un instante, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, a la trompeta final. Los muertos serán resucitados”.

1:4. El cristiano recibirá una gloriosa herencia, mucho mejor que la herencia de los israelitas que heredaron la tierra que fluía con leche y miel.

1:4. The Christian will receive a glorious inheri-tance, much better than the inheritance of the Israelites -- the land of milk and honey.

Incontaminable… Esta herencia no tiene nada de polución. Queda libre de todo aquello que la pudiera manchar o hacer despreciable.

Undefiled… This inheritance has no pollution. It remains free from all that could stain or make it despised.


Inmarchitable… Dice el v. 24, “La hierba se seca, y la flor se cae”, pero nuestra herencia no es así.

Does not fade away… V. 24 says, “The grass withers, And its flower falls away,´” but our inheritance is not like this.


¡Cuántas cosas en este mundo brillan y son muy bonitas, y luego su gloria desaparece! Toda cosa que podemos ver, tocar, oler, oír, gustar, pasará.

How many things in this world shine and are very beautiful, and then their glory disappears! Everything we can see, touch, smell, hear, taste, passes away.


2 Ped. 3:7, “los cielos y la tierra que ahora existen están reservados para el fuego” pero esta heren-cia queda “reservada en los cielos para vosotros”.

2 Pet. 3:7, “the present heavens and earth by His word are being reserved for fire,” but this inheri-tance remains “reserved in heaven for you.”


1:5, El cristiano es guardado por el poder de Dios quien actúa como centinela de nuestra vida. El monta guardia para proteger a los suyos.

1:5, The Christian is guarded by the power of God who acts as a sentinel over our life. El sets up a guard to protect His own.


No es que nos salve de los problemas y las aflic-ciones, sino que nos capacita para enfrentarlos, soportarlos, y vencerlos, para seguir adelante.

It is not that He saves us from problems and afflictions, but that He enables us to meet, endure and conquer them, to keep going forward.


1:6-8, La fe del cristiano es más preciosa que el oro. Cree en Cristo y lo ama sin haberlo visto, y “os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorioso”.

1:6-8, The faith of the Christian is more precious than gold. He believes in Christ and loves Him without having seen Him, and rejoices “with joy inexpressible and full of glory.”


Como el oro es probado con fuego, así también la fe del cristiano es probada. El cristiano sufre por su fe. 2:20-21; 4:12, 13, 16; 5:7.

As gold is tested by fire, so also the Christian’s faith is tested. He suffers for his faith. 2:20-21; 4:12, 13, 16; 5:7.


1:10-12, Esta salvación fue anunciada por los profetas. Son “cosas en las cuales anhelan mirar los ángeles”.

1:10-12, This salvation was announced by the prophets. They are “things that angels desire to look into.”


1:13, Somos los elegidos, hemos renacido, con esperanza viva, herencia incorruptible, creemos en Cristo y lo amamos. Por tanto…

1:13, We are the elect, we have been born again, with a living hope, incorruptible inheritance, we believe in and love Christ. Therefore…


“Ceñid los lomos de vuestro entendimiento”, recoger sus flotantes vestimentas (como arremangarse) con un cinto para correr, pelear.

“Gird up the loins of your mind,” gather up their flowing garments with a belt (like rolling up your sleeves) to run, fight.


Tomar las decisiones necesarias… No contentos con el estudiar y pensar superficialmente… Tener convicción, no ser como niños fluctuantes.

Make necessary decisions… Not content with studying and thinking superficially… Have conviction, not be as changeable children.


“Sed sobrios”. Evitar alcohol, también intoxican-tes mentales como ignorancia, prejuicio, indife-rencia y todo lo que sea enemigo de la sobriedad.

“Be sober”. Avoid alcohol, also mental intoxi-cants like ignorance, prejudice, indifference and everything that is the enemy of sobriety.


1:15, 16, El cristiano es santo. Es lógico … ya perdonados… ¿volver y continuar la vida pecaminosa? Compárese Rom. 6:1-4.

1:15, 16, The Christian es holy. This is logical… Now forgiven… Return and continue the sinful life? Compare Rom. 6:1-4.


Como Cristo, Heb. 7:26. Santo = apartado, diferente, único. Templo de Salomón único… También el templo de Cristo (su iglesia).

Like Christ, Heb. 7:26. Holy = separate, different, unique. Temple of Solomon unique… Also the temple of Christ (church).


1:17. El cristiano es un peregrino y extranjero en este mundo: “conducíos en temor todo el tiempo de vuestra peregrinación”.

1:17. The Christian is a pilgrim and foreigner in this world: “conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay upon earth.”


La Tierra no es su residencia permanente, sino como hotel. Está de viaje. Heb.11:16, “anhelaban una patria mejor, es decir, la celestial”.

The earth is not his permanent residence, but like a hotel. He’s on a journey. Heb. 11:16, “they desired a better country, that is, a heavenly one.”


La vida del cristiano es una vida de temor o reverencia hacia Dios. Siempre vive en la presencia de Dios, consciente de su presencia.

The Christian’s life is a life of fear or reverence toward God. He always lives in the presence of God, conscious of His presence.


2:11, “que os abstengáis de las pasiones carnales que combaten contra el alma”, como un ejército enemigo. La lucha es como campaña militar.

2:11, “that you abstain from fleshly lusts that war against the soul”, like an enemy army. The struggle is like a military campaign.


1:18, 19, Otra figura para ilustrar la conversión: rescatados o redimidos de la vida de pecado, no con oro o plata, sino con la sangre de Cristo.

1:18, 19, Another figure to illustrate conversion: rescued or redeemed from the life of sin, not with gold or silver, but with the blood of Christ.
