ARTS, MUSIC & DANCE
Description: Expenses that relate to the member’s activities
or programs.
Amount: $300 per fiscal year, per member.
Guideline: 100% Reimbursement.
Requirements: You must pre-pay first and provide original
receipts.
Activities i.e. Dance, Singing Lessons, Painting, Sculpting, Musical In-
strument Lessons.
Requirements For post-secondary arts courses we require proof from Sto:lo
that you aren’t being funded.
Not Approved If expenses are being covered by Sto:lo Service Agency or any
other institution,
Can not claim work or personal gain.

The Tzeachten Financial Assistance Program is for Tzeachten
Community Members only.
This program is possible through the First Nations Sales Taxa-
tion (FNST) Agreement. This program renews each fiscal year
and is monitored by Tzeachten First Nation. This program is a
privilege to assist our community members, all claims are
subject to review. If any member abuses the program their
privileges may be taken away.
This is for reimbursement only and the original or copies of the
receipt are required. The type and amounts listed in this pack-
age are subject to change without notice.

All receipts must be submitted with in the Fiscal Year
April 1-March 31.

reimbursed with no exchange in
Canadian dollars.

Tzeachten Community Assistance Benefit Application Process
Tzeachten Community Member must provide:
Must complete application form
Provide Original receipt(s) (originals may be
returned if requested)
Bring the application and receipts to the
Governance & Membership Officer.
GMO will then facilitate the review process
for approval.
Once the application is approved the GMO
will forward the application documents to
finance for processing and payment.
The GMO will contact the applicant once
the cheque is available for pick up for on
reserve members. The GMO will mail
out for off reserve members within 30
business days.
PLEASE NOTE: Tzeachten will ensure that
the above outlined steps are followed.
Members are only encouraged to call if
they have not received the cheque in 30
business days.

Funeral Assistance
Description: To assist with the costs of a member’s Funeral.
Amount: $5,000 maximum
Guideline: 100% Reimbursement of funeral costs.
Requirements: If upfront payment is required or this can be
issued directly to the funeral home.
The following is only an example of the types of allowable ex-
penses.
Funeral Ceremony, Burial or Cremation, Casket or Urn, Catering
and Flowers.

DAYCARE
Description: To assist member’s with cost of childcare.
Amount: $1,000.00 per fiscal year.
Guideline: 100% Reimbursement.
Requirements: You must pre-pay first and provide the
original receipts. Must have proof of service with
Receipt or Contract.
Eligible For work or for training initiatives.
On or off reserve.
Contract with a certified daycare facility.
Not Approved Invoices from Non-certified Daycare Facilities.

EDUCATION Description: Expenses that relate to education.
Amount: $1,500 per fiscal year, per member.
Guideline: 100% Reimbursement.
Requirements: CHECK LIST
- You must pursue other options.
- Provide a letter stating Sto:lo Nation will not
help assist with education.
- Provide documentation from institution you
are attending.
- Prepay first and provide copy of the original
receipts.
- Those attending Post Secondary education will
require proof of attendance for each
semester.
NOTE: Education travel for Post Secondary students is now a
FLAT RATE $50 /month over 20km. Tzeachten will require proof
of mileage.
Schooling Registration fee at any level (preschool to post -
secondary), tuition, upgrading of courses and educa-
tional workshops, Driving School Lessons and K-12
hot lunch fees.
Equipment USB Sticks, Computers (one per every 4 years
starting in the middle school), soft ware for com-
puter courses, various accessories for computers bag
etc. Printers (one per every 4 years),
Paper, School Supplies, Books, Musical Instruments,
Graphing Calculators.
School Sports Team fees, Tournament fees, Uniform and Equipment
Travel School field trips, parking fees, school bus fees, ex-
change programs and gas.

MEDICAL Description: Expenses that relate to health.
Amount: $1,500 per fiscal year,
per member.
Guideline: 100% Reimbursement.
Requirements: You must pursue other options first
(ie; INAC, Private Plans through work or
Sto:lo Nation), you must pre-pay first and
provide a copy of the original receipts.
The following is only examples of the types of allowable
medical expenses.

chambers, diabetic supplies, orthotic braces, splints, de-
pends & breast pumps.
Practitioners Massage Therapist, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Acu-
puncturists, Reflexologists, Naturopaths
Vision Examinations, glasses (one pair every 2 years), Prescrip-
tion sunglasses, non-colored contacts and surgery.
Medication Prescriptions, supplements (prescribed only) & non-
covered vaccines (i.e. oversees traveling)
Travel Parking and gas for out of town medical appointments
or visitation of family members at a clinic/hospital. (If not
eligible or receiving from Sto:lo Nation Health Services)
travel has to be over 20kms.
Not Approved Botox, Plastic Surgery not recommended by doctor, Any re-

Special Sport Grant
Description: To assist a Tzeachten member who is part of a
registered sports team that participates in a
qualifying event to move them to Provincials,
Westerns or Nationals.
Amount: Flat Rate $700.00
Approved Registered to a league ie.
Chilliwack FC, Chilliwack Minor Football.
Not Eligible Beer leagues unqualified

Tzeachten Home Improvements Grant (THIG)
THIG (ON RESERVE) Description: Expenses that relate to the improvement or
beautifying of your home which includes
internal, external and yard.
Amount: $1800 per fiscal year, per head of household.
Guideline: 50% reimbursement.
Requirements: You must pre-pay first and provide the
original receipts. Services are approved
with detailed and itemized receipts.
Internal Painting, floorings, Plumbing, Dry Walling, Freezer,
Stove, Dishwasher, Sinks, Toilets, Fixtures

Siding, Roofing, Patios, Painting, Fixtures,
house insurance .
Yard Professional Services for blackberry removal, landscap-
ing, grass cutting, fencing, tree removal
Does NOT Include

Not Eligible To hire your immediate family member, extended Fami-
ly member, family Professional or family business to do
the work. Only Professional Services are approved with
