    Upgrade Management Tool Enhancements

Simplified Migration of 3rd party Authentication: Administrators no longer need to remap 3rd party users/groups (AD/LDAP) after they have

migrated from a previous version. At the end of the migration, all 3rd party users/groups are properly mapped.

Required Service Checking: Some document types require their associated services to be enabled and running on both

the source and target system : Administrators are now notified of the required services that need running in order for those documents

types to be successfully migrated. Administrators no longer will get failed to migrate objects messages for services that are not enabled

and running. Known document types that require their service to be running are :o Crystal Reports which requires the Report Application Server to be running.o Explorer which requires the Explorer Master Server to be running.

    Clear Purpose, Better Resources Utilization

SAP Solution Manager4.0 problem 3 : Unclear purpose of a service or component. For example, Data Recovery Service isn't

needed for backup/recovery functionality but WebI needs it. Users do not know which services are needed for which functionality and for which products

start everything run unnecessary services performance impact. Services dependency is not known.

4.1 solution: User to specify the business problem: select products that are used. Wizard to perform behind the scene work: start or stop appropriate servers and their

dependencies. Risk of stopping needed servers decreased. Performance improved, unnecessary servers do not consume resources.

SAP HANA Authentication and Single Sign-onIntegration With SAP Business Objects Summary

SAP Business Objects and SAP HANA support identity forwarding for scenarios where authorization enforcement in SAP HANA is required:

    1. User authenticates against BOE server with one of the mechanisms supported by BOE.2. BOE securely forwards the user identity to SAP HANA with one of the following methods.

User name/password: SAP HANA database user name/password stored in BOE server. Manual synchronization.

Kerberos (As of SP4): Users must log on to BOE server using Active Directory authentication. BOE server must run on Linux or Microsoft Windows.

SAML (NEW with 4.1): BOE server acts as identity provider. BOE server generates SAML ticket for the user, sends it to the SAP HANA

database to validate -> if valid session will be established for this user. Using SSL transport security between BOE and HANA is highly

    recommended.

    Supportability Enhancements

bo_trace.ini changes to conform to SAP logging and tracing: Active, alert, importance, severity levels are replaced by simply sap_log_level and sap_trace_level.

Settings in old bo_trace.ini will be ignore and the defaults (sap_log_level=log_error; sap_trace_level=trace_error) will be used.

SAP JVM TAG for Thread Dump: SAP Solution Manager can initiate a thread dump to a SAP JVM instance to monitor thread and memory

    information.

For all BOE servers that run inside a SAP JVM, a new java parameter (-Dcom.sap.vm.tag) is used as an identifier to a JVM instance.

This new java parameter is added by default to all the java servers.

More info about how to use Thread Dump in SAP JVM can be found in SAP Notes 1608714.

Parameters Resolving Optional Input Columns Become Optional At Query Refresh Time

Input columns can be either optional or mandatory.

When they are resolved with parameters (prompts), the optional or mandatory nature of the corresponding prompt is derived from the optional or mandatory nature of the input column. Before 4.1, prompts were always derived as mandatory.

  • 2013 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 7

For each input column, the user chooses between three possibilities: No Assignment, Value(value can be empty or blanks for input columns of string data type), or Parameter (only accepts mono-valued parameters). Input columns can also be resolved through joins.

The User Interface for Input Column Entry is Clarified

  • 2013 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 8

    Check Integrity Rules: Input Columns

Check integrity rules were created so that the designer can check if input columns are properly resolved. Input columns may be used in the modeling phase of a data foundation on top of SAP ERP and SAP NW BW data sources. These rules detect unresolved mandatory input columns, input columns wrongly resolved by multi-valued prompts and parameters with incorrect data types.

  • 2013 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 9

Column Delimitation in SQL Can Be Modified by the Data Foundation User (UI Change)

The delimitation (aka insertion between delimiters, usually double quotes) of the columns can be controlled by the designer in the data foundation, at the table level (all columns) and also at the column level, if needed.

We offer a preferred setting for each table and column when inserted in the data foundation but the designer might want to override this. This possibility is only offered for standard tables, not for alias, derived, or federated tables.

  • 2013 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 10

    Check Integrity Rule: Loops

A new check integrity rule detects unresolved loops inside a data foundation.

SAP HANA Variables are now exposed in the data foundation. When you click on a table representing a SAP HANA view in the data foundation, variables are listed in the properties panel.

A page was added to the Refresh Data Foundation Structure wizard to support the creation, update and deletion of variables.

  • 2013 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 6

SAP HANA - Default Business Layer Generation is Improved

The default generation strategy for the creation of a business layer on a data foundation containing SAP HANA views was improved to reflect the metadata as defined in SAP HANA Studio. When multiple SAP HANA views are present in the data foundation, the business objects common to the different views are created as separate business objects, so a single query on multiple views is not possible.

SAP HANA Attribute Views become IDT business layer top-level folders.

SAP HANA Attributes become IDT dimensions.

SAP HANA Measures become IDT measures with the proper aggregation function in the SELECT clause.

SAP HANA - New Data Foundation and Business Layer Wizard (1/2)

A wizard was introduced that makes it possible to generate a data foundation and business layer on top of multiple SAP HANA views.

When multiple SAP HANA views are present in the data foundation, any dimensions and attributes that are common to different views are created as a single business layer object, and special aggregate-aware objects are generated to make queries on multiple views possible.

The wizard entry point can be found by right-clicking on an IDT project or folder. The prerequisite is to have a working SAP HANA local connection.

SAP HANA - Unwanted SAP HANA Columns are Hidden in IDT

When a user inserts a table corresponding to a SAP HANA view into the IDT data foundation, for any metadata that was hidden in SAP HANA Studio, the corresponding columns are hidden in the IDT data foundation as well.

In the example, two measures have been hidden in the SAP HANA view. The same happens for IDT columns used to display the data in these measures.

    Federation Layer in IDT

The Federation Layer allows modeling mappings between source and destination (federated) tables in a graphical manner almost without having to write any SQL.

The Federation Layer introduces a new kind of table: The Federated Table.

Federated Tables resemble multi-source derived tables except that they are defined using a graphical interface, rather than having to write SQL.

Federated Tables can be defined directly on source tables or on other federated tables or a combination thereof.

Some simple data transformations are possible in real-time.

The complexity of data federation is hidden behind the scenes, where only select federated tables can be published in the main Data Foundation master-view
