Full skirts with cinched in waists for the ladies and cool leather jackets with turned up jeans for the guys are making a comeback with the rockability fac- tor. Taking a nostalgic look back to this luscious time with flirtatious, bold styles and tailored suits, Oma Fair Lady is celebrating the iconic era with ‘The Merry Month of May’. Introducing a vintage weekend full of treasures from the past, organiser Sinead Slane promises there will be something for everyone, “I’m just so delighted at the response we’ve had from people, espe- cially at a local level. It’s just so great to see everyone so keen to get involved and celebrate their love of vintage. It is going to be a fun weekend with plenty of treats in store.” Kicking off the vintage weekend is a Retro Runway Fashion Show taking place on Saturday, May 5 in the Silverbirch Ho- tel. The event is sponsored by ‘Complete- ly Covered’ and is in aid of the charity ‘Aware Defeat Depression’, will be show- casing ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s high end vintage fashions from the best in local Irish de- signers. Claire’s Hair Studio and makeup artist Karen Sufferin have also donated their time and talent to the event With champagne on arrival, the fash- ion show promises to be a treat for thrifty vintage lovers and fashionistas alike. From clothes to unique headwear and accessories, your eyes are in for a treat. The audience will also have the chance to purchase any items which have caught their eye on the night. The vintage theme will be carried on through to the very next day when a vin- tage fair will take place from 1pm to 5.30pm. The fair will be packed full of stallhold- ers who will be displaying their vintage charms to help canny shoppers take a step back to the by-gone days. You will al- so have a chance to get your hands on any items you fancy from the fashion show.
