Local representatives and agentsAs this is a tailor made program for seasoned travellers we have no local representatives. We have local agents in Italy who can give any necessary help and guidance and can always be contacted. You will not be visited in your accommodation. Please remember that wherever you are, most of the hotels’ managers, owners and receptionists are often keen to help you with local information. Any problem you experience must be reported locally so that we are given the opportunity of solving them. If you cannot reach our local agent then do not hesitate to contact our 24/7 emergency number.

As all our holidays are tailormade, we have adopted a flexible pricing policy based on individual airline fares which now, as a result of changing airline industry, fluctuate on a regular basis. We have shown a range of indicative prices for our featured accommodation and will quote the accurate price on application. This price will reflect the latest prices and any offers from hotels.

Andalusia

Page 11: Typically Spain 2015

Andalusía is probably one of the best known parts of Spain for holidaymakers, famous for its sandy beaches, year round sunshine and its cosmopolitan Costa del Sol. However, the landscape is also the most varied of any region in Spain and you can do practically everything from windsurfing on the windy Atlantic coast to skiing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Once one of Spain’s poorest regions, Andalucía now has an excellent infrastructure, with good roads, telephone lines (for those who can’t leave the laptop at home!) and a good public transport system between main towns. Service in the bars and restaurants is excellent and off the beaten track you will find some of the friendliest people in Spain, where astoundingly not speaking each other’s language is never a problem.

CordobaThe walls of the Mezquita dominate Córdoba, while the cobbled alleyways in the old Jewish and Muslim quarters, flanked by overflowing pots of geraniums, are a delight to explore.

The main reason to visit Córdoba is to see its spectacular mosque. Then, take a walk through the atmospheric streets of the Judería, stopping en route in a bustling bar for tapas. The Museo Arqueológico contains important finds from the local area and the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes has works by Murillo, Zurbarán and Goya. The Moorish Alcázar has an impressive evening sound and light show in summer. And don’t leave without taking to the waters in the Hammam Baños Arabes.

GranadaThe Moors made Granada the grandest city in Andalucía in the 14th century. Their magnificent Alhambra Palace remains one of Spain’s most popular monuments, keeping Granada firmly on the tourist trail.

On the opposite hill to the Alhambra is the Albaicín, the oldest part of town, with narrow streets, Arab tearooms and great views, while back in the centre, the Capilla Real is the burial place of the Catholic Monarchs, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel. Granada is forever associated with the writer Federico García Lorca, who was born in the village of Fuente Vaqueros.

MalagaIt is easy to understand why Malaga City is dubbed the Capital of the Costa del Sol. Once considered the poor cousin of Andalusia’s capital city, Seville, it now competes successfully for attention, thanks to its profusion of quirky museums, delightful pedestrianised centre, innovative restaurants and stylish hotels, many featuring trendy rooftop terraces with bar, pool and stunning views. The opening of the Picasso Museum in 2003 triggered the city’s cultural rebirth, and visitors are now flocking to this port city which boasts excellent transport, top-class cuisine and fascinating monuments, from Moorish and Roman times through to modern day - while retaining its authentic Andalusian feel.

CadizCadiz stands on a peninsula jutting out into a bay, and is almost entirely surrounded by water. Named Gadir by the Phoenicians, who

founded their trading post in 1100 BC, it was later controlled by the Carthaginians, until it became a thriving Roman port. The old city looks quite Moorish in appearance and is intriguing with narrow cobbled streets opening onto small squares. The golden cupola of the cathedral looms high above long white houses and the whole place has a slightly dilapidated air. It just takes an hour to walk around the headlands where you can visit the entire old town and pass through some lovely parks with sweeping views of the bay.

LorcaDeclared a historic and artistic site in 1964, Lorca is known as the ‘Baroque city’ thanks to the important Baroque monuments in its historic centre. This part of the city is currently in the process of reconstruction after the earthquake suffered in May 2011. It was short listed in the European Commission’s EDEN programme (European Destinations of Excellence), in recognition of its sustainable tourism proposal.

Hospes Palacio Del BalioH H H H H

The Hotel Hospes Palacio Del Bailio is a five star boutique hotel that occupies a 16th-Century palace in the heart of the ancient city of Córdoba. This glorious property has been meticulously restored and finely balanced with contemporary design.

Guests move among original detailing such as wrought-iron railings, cool terracotta tiles, Moorish embellishments, and a lavishly painted ceiling - all artfully enhanced with understated modern touches. Rich fabrics and textures in champagne and copper are offset by dark walnut and light polished marble floors throughout.

The estate is composed of several buildings arranged around a mosaic of five patios. In the spectacular main patio, traditional paving has been replaced with a dramatic glass floor to reveal Roman ruins just below.

Guests can also unwind in the flower garden or on the sun terrace surrounded by orange trees.

The hotel’s Restaurant, Arbequina, offers a blend of Spanish and Moorish traditions.

If you like culture and history, you’re bound to enjoy its four Archaeological Parks, some of the oldest examples of rock art in Spain, and events such as the International Classical Theatre Festival in Almagro. And if you opt to explore its natural landscapes, you should bear in mind that Castile–La Mancha is one of the territories in Europe with the largest number of officially designated nature reserves, nature areas and national parks, including particularly the Tablas de Daimiel and Cabañeros. Alcalá De HenaresThis town near Madrid, birthplace of the illustrious Miguel de Cervantes, author of “Don Quixote”, and home to one of the most prestigious universities in Spain, has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its rich monumental heritage, formed by churches, convents and university buildings, gives us a glimpse of life in Castilia during the Spanish Golden Age. Its historic quarter also has the “Hostería del Estudiante” Inn, which is part of the network of Paradores de Turismo. Walls with four hundred years of history make the perfect place to sample the best of the local gastronomy.

ToledoToledo is one of the Spanish cities with the greatest wealth of monuments. Known as the “city of the three cultures”, because Christians, Arabs and Jews lived together there for centuries, behind its walls Toledo preserves an artistic and cultural legacy in the form of churches, palaces, fortresses, mosques and synagogues. This great diversity of artistic styles makes the old quarter of the capital of Castile - La Mancha a real open-air museum, which has led to it being declared a World Heritage Site.

CuencaIn the Region of Castile-La Mancha, between the Júcar and Huécar river canyons, you will find this city with the UNESCO World Heritage designation for its wealth of monuments. Its historic centre looks out over rocky canyon walls in the heart of the Cuenca Mountains. The Cathedral, Casas Colgadas (Hanging Houses) and cobbled streets charm the most hardened traveller. A former Dominican convent houses the Cuenca Parador Hotel, where guests can rest and enjoy the region’s most traditional recipes. One of the best times for visiting the city is during the Religious Music Week, a festival of International Tourist Interest. Art, history, adventure sports, spas and hunting are some of the opportunities offered by this province in Castilla-La Mancha.

Galicia

Galicia in north-west Spain is a land of mysteries and surprises. So with its fascinating cultural tapestry, extraordinary natural beauty and landscapes, remarkable Celtic heritage and Roman legacy it is one of the wonders of the world to get to know, discover and experience! Pilgrims from all over the world converge on Santiago de Compostela which is a majestic and ancient capital situated in the heart of Galicia.

Santiago De CompostelaDiscover Santiago de Compostela, the capital of the Region of Galicia. Millions of people from all over the world come to this city every year, many of them reaching the end of the Way of Saint James pilgrimage route. Its historic centre has been designated a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. This is not the only reason to come, however. The Galician capital is synonymous with the Camino, an ancient pilgrimage route, born in the 9th century, that has linked the city with the rest of Europe ever since. Every year many thousands of pilgrims set out on foot, by bike, or even on horseback, to live this experience that combines adventure and spirituality. The final goal is the Cathedral in Santiago, one of the sacred cities of Christendom.

La CorunaSituated beside the Atlantic Ocean, A Coruña is a historic city whose history has maintained close links with its old fishing and commercial port. The peninsula on which the Old City stands also contains the Tower of Hercules, one of the symbols of the city, which is an interesting Romanesque collection of streets, squares and medieval churches. The Aquarium Finisterrae, the Domus and the Science Museum are some of the places that show the more modern, recreational side of the provincial capital, which offers one of its most beautiful facets in the wide beaches of Riazor and Orzán. All this is completed with cuisine recognised throughout the country, marked by the excellence of its seafood and meats coming from the inland parts of the province.1

Castile And Leon

Page 41: Typically Spain 2015

Castile y Leon is the magical “land of the castles” – a land which gave birth to Castilian and the Spanish language, the legendary hero El Cid and Saint Teresa of Avila.

It’s a place where ancient history, myth and legend have become so interwoven over the centuries that it’s sometimes hard to separate the facts from the fairytales.

It’s a fact that Walt Disney used Segovia’s fairytale Moorish fortress as the inspiration for his famous Sleeping Beauty castle. And it’s also a fact that the region is home to a province which boasts more medieval castles than anywhere else in Europe. Names such as Segovia and Salamanca are enough in themselves to fire the imagination and these extraordinarily beautiful cities generally surpass the expectations of first time visitors. Together with Avila, these cities have earned World Heritage status along with the Santiago Way – the famous pilgrims’ trail which traverses Castile y Leon en route to the Galician capital of Santiago de Compostela.

San Esteban De GormazSan Esteban de Gormaz is in the western part of the province of Soria. Its beauty and its historic vestiges have earned it the status of Historic-Artistic Site. The old town of San Esteban is formed by a castle on top of a hill overlooking the entire valley and several main streets which run along the southern side of the hill, inside the old city walls. It has two Romanesque churches, declared to be Cultural Heritage: San Miguel, built in 1081, which was the first arcaded Romanesque church in the province; and Nuestra Señora del Rivero, from the 12th century, which stands on a small hill overlooking the banks of the river Duero.

SalamancaSalamanca is in the central area of Spain, 212 kilometres from the capital, Madridrid. Universal, magnificent, wise, young and golden: this city is an inland destination well worth discovering for many reasons. Its historic centre has been designated a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. This city saw the production of the first Grammar of the Castilian Language in the 15th century, which became a fundamental instrument for its expansion throughout the world. It is also a favourite destination amongst foreign students wanting to learn Spanish. As you would expect, Salamanca is one of the most important stages on the Route of the Spanish Language.

AvilaSheltered by the Sierra Gredos Mountains we find Ávila, a World Heritage City. Behind the city walls of this Castile-Leon capital there is a valuable set of churches and Renaissance palaces that bear witness to the past wealth of the town as a textile centre. Being the birthplace of Saint Teresa of Jesus has left its mark across the city, both inside and outside the city walls, with a large number of religious buildings linked to the saint’s life. The European Commission has given Ávila the Access City Award 2010. The excellent roasts and famous Avila veal cutlet are just part of a rich local cuisine without forgetting the famous dessert of Saint Teresa - “yemas” (sugared egg yolks).

SegoviaSegovia, the old quarters of which, along with its Roman aqueduct, are World Heritage Sites, lies on high ground between the Eresma and Clamores Rivers. In addition to its famous aqueduct, numerous Romanesque churches, the Cathedral and Fortress go to form this magnificent landscape that presides over this part of Castile. Its modern Parador Hotel is one of the best places for the visitor to savour the city’s most traditional dish: roast suckling pig. Moreover, Segovia is an excellent starting point to tour the province and visit to the La Granja Palace, as well as the Gorges of the Duratón River Nature Reserve, among other attractions.

If you go to the Basque country you absolutely have to try the famous “pintxos”: miniature morsels of “haute cuisine” which you’ll see displayed in all their glory on the counters of numerous bars. You’ll also find several restaurants run by some of the standard-bearers of the new Spanish cuisine. And if you’d like something delicious to drink, why not try any of the wines from the Rioja Alavesa region? Also worth a special mention are its beautiful coastal destinations with such well-known places as San Sebastián, Zarautz and Getxo, as well as inland cities such as Vitoria and Bilbao. This last location is home to such innovative buildings as its Guggenheim Museum, which has received international acclaim. Don’t miss it, or the spectacular Vizcaya suspension bridge, with the UNESCO World Heritage designation.

HondarribiaStanding at the mouth of the River Bidasoa, Hondarribia is a town on the Guipuzcoa coast with a long seafaring and tourist tradition. Its walled old town, full of aristocratic buildings, has been declared a Historic Artistic Site. According to the tradition, Hondarribia was founded by the Visigoth King Recaredo in the 6th century AD.

GetariaGetaria is located on the coast of Guipuzcoa. It is a gorgeous fishing town, and the birthplace of distinguished figures, such as Juan Sebastián Elcano and Cristóbal Balenciaga.Getaria is located 30 kilometres west of San Sebastián. During the Middle Ages, and later also, when harpoons were still thrown by hand, the people from this village were whale hunters, as the local coat of arms (a whale with a harpoon stuck on its back) depicts.

Vitoria-GasteizVitoria-Gasteiz, founded towards the end of the 12th century, is today a city of exceptional urban design. The Basque capital has a medieval city centre, in which it is possible to find countless places of great traditional flavour, such as Plaza de la Virgen Blanca (White Virgin Square) and historic buildings like the cathedral of Santa María. From here, the city harmonically unfolds into the Romantic new suburbs, a network of wide avenues, gardens and buildings that are a reminder of the grandeur and stateliness of Vitoria.

LaguardiaLaguardia is the most important town in La Rioja of Alava, and one of the most beautiful. The region is famous all around the world because of its wines, and because it was the birthplace of fabulist Samaniego. La Rioja of Alava has a perfect climate for farming the wines that give this area its well-deserved fame. It is also an area with numerous archaeological sites, Palaeolithic remains, as well as Roman and medieval artefacts.

Navarra

Page 55: Typically Spain 2015

The medieval kingdom of Navarra has an abundance of monuments, and its capital, Pamplona, hosts the world-renowned San Fermín fiesta. Navarra is a land of diversity, from the Pyreness, to the flat arid lands of ‘La Ribera’ in the South.

The Pilgrim’s Way passes through Navarra, starting at the legendary site of Roncesvalles in the north and ending at the noble town of Vianna in the south west.

The world famous Fiesta de San Fermin begins on the 7 July every year. The early morning encierros (running of the bulls) are a prelude to the afternoon corridas (bullfights), this fiesta has many planned surprises, including a huge fireworks display every night – and many impromptu ones.

This region has a varied gastronomy; exquisite meats, tasty vegetables from the market gardens of La Ribero are accompanied by the excellent wines of the area.

In Navarra, culture and nature merge. Roman towns, Romanesque churches, gothic monasteries and cathedrals, medieval towers and walls make up the history of this Kingdom.

PamplonaOn the fertile plain of the river Arga sits Pamplona, a city full of history and deep-rooted traditions. The streets and squares of its historic quarter still preserve a significant collection of monumental buildings dominated by its churches and medieval walls.

Pamplona is a city in which tradition and modernity live in harmony. A visit to Pamplona, capital of the Navarre region, should begin in the “hamlets”, group of districts of medieval origin representing the seed from which today’s city grew. In the centrally located Plaza Consistorial square stands the majestic Baroque façade of the Town Hall.

OliteIt is a Historic-Artistic Site where traces of a Roman and Gothic presence can be found in its walled enclosure and in the splendour of the medieval court of Carlos III in its castle-palace. It has two medieval churches: Santa María, Gothic from the 13th century and which has a beautiful façade and a magnificent reredos, is situated partly inside the palace, where it was once the chapel; and San Pedro, the oldest in Olite, with a Romanesque façade and cloister.

Aragon is a treasure trove of Mudéjar architecture, with fine examples in Tarazona, Catalyud and Teruel. Zaragoza is the region’s capital and its main sights are the Basílica de Nuestra Señora Del Pilar and the Aljafería Moorish palace.

ZaragozaThe capital of the Region of Aragon is located on the banks of the Ebro River, halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. There are many reasons to come to this open, friendly city. You will find a stunning legacy of monuments in the streets of the city, vestiges of the Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian communities who left their mark on the place: Roman ruins such as the Circus; Aljafería Palace; Mudejar-style churches, with the UNESCO World Heritage designation; Baroque gems like the Pilar Basilica; the work of brilliant artist Francisco de Goya, If you like art, then Zaragoza is the perfect destination for you.

Sos Del Rey CatolicoLocated in the historic region of the Cinco Villas, Sos Del Rey Catolico is located 120 kilometres from the city of Zaragoza, and the old town has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest.

King Ferdinand II of Aragon, later known as Ferdinand the Catholic, was born here. Its strategic situation makes a natural fortress and in one of the most important fortified towns in the area during the 10th and 11th centuries. It still preserves gateway-towers, such as Jaca, Nador, Zaragoza and Uncastillo.

This charming hotel is housed in a typical Aragonese building and bristles with the historical and artistic atmosphere of Sos del Rey Católico.

The regal and elegant interiors offer beautiful views of the town from some rooms whilst wood covers the interior pillars and predominates in the Castilian-style furniture throughout the hotel.

The town, which has been declared an area of artistic and historical importance, was the birthplace of influential nobles such as the Ferdinand, the Catholic Monarch himself. It therefore has a rich heritage. Space and light are the common denominator in the guest rooms, thanks to the large windows.

Facilities include a TV lounge, a restaurant. Guests may also take advantage of the room and laundry services (for an additional fee) and there is parking and a garage (charges apply) for those arriving by car.

Catalonia

Covering the area from the Pyrenees in the north to the Mediterranean in the east and the Ebro valley in the southwest, Catalonia offers diverse scenery and attractions.

Catalonia is arguably the region of Spain with the strongest identity. The area is best known for three things: the ski resorts of the Pyrenees, the holiday resorts of the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada and the painter Salvador Dalí, who lived in Portlligat and whose work can be seen at the Teatre-Museu Dalí in Figueres. The charming city of Girona is home to the world’s best restaurant, El Celler de Can Roca. Tarragona is noted for its Roman remains while Port Aventura is one of the largest theme parks in Europe. Montserrat is one of Spain’s most spiritual sites.

GironaThe so-called “City of the Four Rivers”, shows us a historic centre dominated by medieval buildings and reminders of Romans, Arabs and Jews. Inside the walled enclosure of “La Força Vella” you can find the culminating works of its historical destiny. The towns excellent position between the Pyrenean chain and the Costa Brava makes a multitude of trips possible, for example, to natural areas which are worthy of mention. Everywhere, the traveller will have the opportunity to try the regional cuisine which brings together in its recipes products of the sea and the mountains.

BegurIn the southern coast of Baix Empordà we find the town of Begur. In this sector of Costa Brava mountains dive into the Mediterranean sea, forming small coves and sandy beaches among rocky cliffs. Pine forests go all the way to the shore, surrounding the town of Begur, which is only a few kilometres away from the sea. The historic quarter, a very traditional, colourful place, is dominated by the ruins of an austere castle built on rocks, which dates from the 15th century. The ancient fishing quarters, by the beach, have become important residential and tourist areas, these include Aiguablava. A number of small secluded beaches can be found within 5 minutes drive.

Madrid

Page 69: Typically Spain 2015

The charm of the old quarters, the exquisite sierra light, the superb art collections and the vibrancy of the long, long night: these are a few of the attractions of Madrid, the capital of Spain.

Spain’s capital city has plenty to offer visitors of all tastes and budgets. World-class art collections in the Museo Del Prado, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Michelin-starred restaurants like El Club Allard and the designer shops of Salamanca cater for those who like the finer things in life. Then there are the historic cafés and bars around Plaza Santa Ana, the breath of fresh air that is the Parque Del Retiro and the city’s vibrant nightlife, including the happening gay quarter of Chueca. The Plaza Dos de Mayo is a reminder of Madrid’s turbulent past.

Strategically located in the geographic centre of the Iberian Peninsula at an altitude of 646 m above sea level, Madrid has one of the most important historic centres of all the great European cities. This heritage merges seamlessly with the city’s modern and convenient infrastructures, a wide-ranging offer of accommodation and services, and all the latest state-of-the-art technologies in audiovisual and communications media.

The historic centre, also known as the “Madrid of Los Austrias” (in reference to the Hapsburg monarchs), and the spectacular Plaza Mayor square –inaugurated in 1620 and one of the most popular and typical sites in Spain– are a living example of the nascent splendour of the city in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Art and culture play a key role in Madrid’s cultural life. The capital has over 60 museums which cover every field of human knowledge. Highlights include the Prado Museum, one of the world’s most important art galleries; the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, with over 800 paintings ranging from primitive Flemish artists through to the avant-garde movements. And the Reina Sofía National Art Centre, dedicated to contemporary Spanish art and containing works by Picasso, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí and Juan Gris, among others.

Madrid’s extensive and beautifully maintained parks and gardens –like the Retiro park, formerly the recreational estate to the Spanish monarchs, the Casa de Campo and the Juan Carlos I park– offer inhabitants and visitors the chance to enjoy the sunshine, stroll, row on its lakes or feed the squirrels, in one of the greenest capitals in Europe.

But if there’s one thing that sets Madrid apart, it must be its deep and infectious passion for life that finds its outlet in the friendly and open character of its inhabitants. Concerts, exhibitions, ballets, a select theatrical offering, the latest film releases, the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of the best Spanish and international gastronomy, to savour the charms of its bars and taverns... all these are just a few of the leisure options on offer in Madrid. There is also a tempting array of shops and businesses featuring both traditional establishments and leading stores offering top brands and international labels.

BilbaoThe Basque city of Bilbao is a spellbinding capital of design and gastronomy. With one of the world’s finest buildings - the Guggenheim - at its heart, Bilbao dazzles with style and energy and boasts a unique identity as well as Europe’s oldest and most enigmatic language. The city’s big attraction is the Museo Guggenheim. This massive, futuristic structure, funded primarily by the Basque government, has become the symbol of Bilbao, its shimmering titanium roof rising dramatically beside the banks of the Nervión. The Museo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Museum) offers a rich array of Spanish classics – El Greco, Goya, and an honest ‘warts and all’ portrait of Felipe IV by Velázquez – as well as Flemish and Italian masterpieces. The museum’s upper floor is devoted to Basque and international 20th-century art.

ValenciaValencia is best known for its las fallas festival in March, its ceramics and its futuristic City of Arts and Sciences. Since 1982, the third largest city in Spain has been feverishly reinventing itself – laying out wide new avenues and investing in daring architectural projects. The cathedral was started in 1262 on the site of a Moorish mosque but it is a mix of styles, with most parts dating from the 14th–15th centuries. The Museo Nacional de Cerámica, housed in the astonishing Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas, is a gem of a museum and among its treasures it has hundreds of glorious glazed tiles (azulejos) for which the city is famous. The city’s major art collection, at the Museo de Bellas Artes, has paintings by Bosch, El Greco, Goya and Veláz¬quez, and a definitive collection of 15th-century Valencian art.

When travelling in your own car you must be in possession of a full valid driving license, vehicle registration document, proof of insurance, reflective jacket, warning triangle and GB sticker. When hiring a car you will be required to produce a valid driving license and credit card as a guarantee.

Flight Delays and TimingsAt the time of booking, the flight details are as instructed by the airlines, but could be subject to change by the CAA when the official time slots are issued. If changes do occur we will inform you straight away. Flight delays may occur for various reasons and are beyond our control.

Foreign Office AdviceThe Foreign and Commonwealth Office issue updated information about your holiday destination. Should we be given any advice from FCO that could affect your holiday, we will inform you immediately. However you are advised to check this information on BBC2 Ceefax, on the internet at www.fco.goc.uk or by telephoning 020 7008 0232.

Health and SafetyAll hoteliers are required to meet local health and safety standards and fire regulations. You should be aware that standards and regulations vary in different countries and may not compare to the generally higher standards set in UK establishments. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the emergency fire procedures within your chosen accommodation. Doctors and chemists are available locally and are advertised in daily newspapers or at the reception. We do recommend that clients obtain a DoH leaflet on Health of travellers and those under medication should ensure they take a plentiful supply and if possible, with a letter of confirmation from the doctor. Pregnancy Note: Air regulations state that women 28 weeks or more into pregnancy, at the time of return travel, must have a certificate of fitness to travel. Normally, after 32 weeks permission to travel is refused (check with insurers too).

Hotel PhotographsMany of our hotels have individually decorated and styled rooms, therefore the hotel room photographs are set as an example only.

InfantsCots and highchairs are available in many hotels please request at the time of booking. In some cases a small local charge may be made for hire and linen.

InsuranceIt is our company policy that clients traveling with us are required to insure against all holiday risks.

We recommend that you take with you an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which can be obtained through the Post Office or online at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers as this can help to lower excesses.

LanguagesSpanish people prefer their mother tongue, although English is widely spoken and understood everywhere.

Passports & VisasA full British passport, (valid for at least 6 months from return date) is required for all holidays in this brochure. At the time of going to press UK passport holders do not require a visa for our destinations. Holders of non UK passports should check with their travel agent or the relevant embassy or consulate. We cannot accept responsibility for passports and visas. We advise you to take with you the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) obtainable through the Post Office or online at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers.

PetsIf you are travelling with a pet this must be advised at the time of booking and well in advance of travel. It is your responsibility to provide all the necessary documents and make all the arrangements to satisfy all legal requirements. Failure to do so will prevent your pet from being permitted to travel.

Special RequestsSpecial requests must be made at the time of booking for cots, highchairs, ground floors. These can only be requested and are not guaranteed.

Swimming PoolsPlease note that there are strict rules for some accommodation and municipal swimming pools. Most pools are open from May to September. Most pools do not have a life guard, adult supervision is required. In Spain many hotels close their pool between 1300 and 1500 hours. Some pools regulations may require you to wear swimming cap.

YOUR CONTRACT IS WITH BRITALY TRAVEL LTD a Member of ABTA, Trading as TYPICALLY SPAIN.

1. Your Holiday Contract

You can make a booking with us through your local Independent Travel Agent. Once we know your requirements and have checked availability, we will tell you the up to date price of your chosen holiday. Before the booking is confirmed we reserve the right to increase or decrease the cost. When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. At this point we will issue you with a confirmation number and a contract will exist. This contract is made on the terms of these booking conditions, which are governed by English Law, and the jurisdiction of the English Courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you wish to do so. We will then send you a confirmation invoice verifying the details and prices of the holiday booked. Please check the details of the invoice carefully and contact us immediately if there is any discrepancy.

ALL HOLIDAYS AND OFFERS ADVERTISED IN THIS BROCHURE ARE

SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY. 2. Your Financial Protection

When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.

We provide full financial protection for our travel arrangements that do not include a flight by way of a bond held by ABTA The Travel Association.

3. ABTA

We are a Member of ABTA, membership number W6934. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of this contract. The scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It is a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you for costs. The upper limit on claims is £5,000 per person and £25,000 per booking form. The scheme doesn’t apply to claims which are solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. It can however deal with claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of £1,500 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com.

4. Your Holiday Price

1) We reserve the right to alter the prices of any of the holidays shown in our brochure. You will be advised of the current price of the holiday that you wish to book before your contract is confirmed.

2) When you make your booking you must pay a deposit of £180.00 per person. Should the travel arrangements be on a low cost carrier or on a restricted saver ticket the payment for this part of your booking will be due for payment in full at time of booking (any cancellation or changes to ticketed flights will result in a full loss) and will alter the deposit due. The balance of the price of your travel arrangements must be paid at least 12 weeks before your departure date. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit. All monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on our behalf at all times. Payments made directly to Britaly Travel Ltd made by MasterCard, Visa, American Express will incur an additional processing charge of 2%.

The price of your travel arrangements was calculated using exchange rates quoted in the Financial Times Guide to World Currencies on 24/08/2012 in relation to the following currencies: Euro 1.2

The Price Policy The price of your travel arrangements may vary due to changes in transport costs, including the cost of fuel, scheduled airlines and other cost

changes which are part of the contract between the airlines (and their agents) and the tour operator, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports and exchange rates. Government action, such as VAT and other changes mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However there will be no change within 30 days of your departure.

In the case of a small variation, an amount equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges will be absorbed or retained. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1.00 per person together with an amount to cover agent’s commission. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more that 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. We will consider an appropriate refund of insurance premiums paid if you can show that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the change mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place.

5. If You Change Your Booking If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change your travel arrangements in any way, for example your chosen departure date or accommodation, we will do our utmost to make these changes but it may not always be possible. Any request for changes to be made must be in writing from the person who made the booking or your travel agent. You will be asked to pay an administration charge of £20.00 per person, per change, and any further cost we incur in making this alteration. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible.

Note: Certain travel arrangements (e.g. flight tickets purchased from low cost carriers or restricted tickets) may not be changeable after a reservation has been made and any alteration request could incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements.

6. If You Cancel Your Holiday

You, or any member of your party, may cancel your travel arrangements at any time. Written notification from the person who made the booking or your travel agent on your behalf must be received at our offices. Since we incur costs in cancelling your travel arrangements, you will have to pay the applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown in clause 7. Note: If the reason for your cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges.

7. If We Change or Cancel Your Holiday It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements, but we do plan the arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. Most of these changes will be minor and we will advise you or your travel agent of them at the earliest possible date. We also reserve the right to cancel your holiday in the event of a major change and will inform the travel agent as soon as reasonably possible. However, we will not cancel your travel arrangements less than 10 weeks before your departure date, except for reasons of force majeure or failure by you to pay the final balance. If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements, you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us; if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). In accordance with EU Regulations we are required to advise you of the actual carrier operating your flight/connecting flight/transfer. We do this by providing you with written confirmation as soon as the booking is confirmed. Any changes to the actual airline after you have received your tickets will be notified to you as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Such a change is deemed to be a minor change. Other examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same standard. YOUR CONTRACT IS WITH Britaly Travel Ltd, a member of ABTA, trading at Typically Spain.

Force Majeure This means that we will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport.

8. If You Have a Complaint If you have a problem during your holiday, please contact the relevant supplier (e.g. your hotelier, airline, car rental supplier etc) and our resort representative immediately (contact numbers are provided with travel documents) who will endeavour to put things right. If your complaint cannot resolved, then you must contact our Emergency our of hours service (number can be found within travel documents) to inform us of any problems. Matters can most easily be resolved for you on the spot, when the supplier can see and understand the exact nature of any problems you have. It is unreasonable not to take any action whilst on holiday and then complain. If you are still unsatisfied please follow this up within 28 days of your return home by writing to our Customer Services Department at 8-10 London Road, Peterborough, PE2 8AR giving your booking reference and all other relevant information. Please keep your letter concise and to the point. This will assist us to quickly identify your concerns and speed up our response to you. If you fail to follow this simple procedure we will have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint whilst you were in resort and this may affect your rights under this contract.

9. Our Liability to You

If the contract we have with you is not performed or is improperly performed by us or our suppliers we will pay you appropriate compensation if this has affected the enjoyment of your travel arrangements. However we will not be liable where any failure in the performance of the contract is due to: you; or a third party unconnected with the provision of the travel arrangements and where the failure is unforeseeable or unavoidable; or unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised; or an event which we or our suppliers, even with all due care, could not foresee or forestall. Our liability, except in cases involving death, injury and illness, shall be limited to a maximum of twice the cost of your travel arrangements. Our liability will also be limited in accordance with and/or in an identical manner to (a) The contractual terms of the companies that provide the transportation for

your travel arrangements. These terms are incorporated into this contract; and

(b) Any relevant international convention, for example the Montreal Convention in respect of travel by air, the Athens Convention in respect of travel by sea, the Berne Convention in respect of travel by rail and the Paris Convention in respect of the provision of accommodation, which limit the amount of compensation that you can claim for death, injury, delay to passengers and loss, damage and delay to luggage. We are to be regarded as having all benefit of any limitation of compensation contained in these or any conventions.

You can ask for copies of the transport companies' contractual terms, or the international conventions, from our offices Britaly Travel Ltd, Britaly House, 8-10 London Road, Peterborough, PE2 8AR. Under EU law you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details of these rights will be publicised at EU airports and will also be available from airlines. However reimbursement in such cases will

not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday cost from us. Your right to a refund and/or compensation from us is set out in this contract. If any payments to you are due from us, any payment made to you by the airline will be deducted from this amount. If your airline does not comply with these rules you should complain to the Air Transport Users’ Council on 020 7240 6061 www.auc.org.uk

10. Personal injury unconnected with your booked travel arrangements If you or any member of your party suffers death, illness or injury whilst overseas arising out of an activity which does not form part of your package travel arrangements or an excursion arranged through us, we shall at our discretion, offer advice, guidance and assistance. Where legal action is contemplated and you want our assistance, you must obtain our written consent prior to commencement of proceedings. Our consent will be given subject to you undertaking to assign any costs, benefits received under any relevant insurance policy to ourselves. We limit the cost of our assistance to you or any member of your party to £5,000.

11. Passport, Visa and Immigration Requirements Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant Embassies and/or Consulates. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. If we or your carrier are fined as a result of you holding incorrect documents, you will have to pay us the full amount. For up to date UK Government health & travel advice please visit www.fco.gov.uk, www.hpa.org.uk and www.bathnac.org and contact your GP.

NAMES GIVEN TO US SHOULD MATCH THOSE ON YOUR PASSPORTS.

12. Your responsibility We want all our customers to have an enjoyable holiday. Please remember that all clients are responsible for their own actions and the effect they may have on others. If we (other persons in authority) reasonably believe a customer’s behaviour is disruptive or affects others, is threatening or abusive or is likely to damage property, we may end that customer’s holiday. This could mean that the customer will be prevented from using the accommodation or transport arranged. If this happens we will not pay compensation or meet expenses incurred as a result. This brochure is our responsibility, as your tour operator. It is not issued on behalf of, and does not commit the airlines mentioned herein or any airline whose services are used in the course of your travel arrangements. Please note that in the accordance with Air Navigation Orders in order to qualify for infant status, a child must be under 2 years of age on the date of its return flight.

13. The brochure

Description of the facilities provided at the hotels and all information are in good faith and every effort has been made to ensure their accuracy. However it is possible that hotels, restaurants and spas (over whom we have no control) may wish to change their facilities (e.g. pools may be closed for maintenance). In some cases the operation of air-conditioning or central heating is at the discretion of the management or the local laws. There may be a charge for some facilities, for example TV’s, safety deposit boxes, sun-loungers, parasols, tennis courts, pool tables and air-conditioning. In some places during high season (and even at other times) there is a possibility you will be disturbed by noise from less considerate groups, so please bear this in mind when choosing you destination and accommodation. All distances provided in this brochure are approximate and may alter due to the route taken. Public holidays or religious festivals may also effect the operation of resort or hotel facilities.

14. Tourist tax Many Spanish towns and cities have decided to introduce a Tourist Tax. All

visitors must pay this tax. The tax is not included in the cost of the accommodation. It is an additional charge which must be paid directly to the hotel. The hotel will collect the tax on behalf of the local council. The rate of the tax varies from place to place. Please enquire for further details.

Typically Holidays is a supporter of the Trust in Travel Agents campaign which aims to celebrate and promote travel agents and their commitments to service, value,
