All dimensions are in millimeters.
All steelwork (except stainless steel) shall be grade 43 to BS 4360 and
shall be hot dip galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461:1999.
Stainless steel bolts and nuts shall be Grade A2-70 to BS EN ISO 3506-1
and BS EN ISO 3506-2, spring washer shall be to BS ISO464:1995.
Refer to HyD Standard Drawings No. H2228B and 2229 for the
layout/position of the double street name plates and traffic signs.
For 5m and 8m columns, signage mounted parallel and perpendicular to
the road axis can co-exist provided the total projected area does not
exceed 0.4 sq.m.
For 10m and 12m columns, signage mounted parallel and perpendicular to
the road axis cannot co-exist. Maximum total projected area of the
signage shall be : -
i) 0.4 sq.m for signage mounted parallel to the road axis.
ii) 0.1 sq.m for signage mounted perpendicular to the road axis.
No signage of any kind shall be allowed:-
i) on 10m or 12m decorative lighting columns.
ii) if there is already permanent fixture like WiFi equipment, light shields etc mounted on the column.
All weld slag shall be removed with a chipping hammer and the welds
vigorously wire brushed and protected by two coats of zinc rich paint to
BS4652.
The painting of lighting column surface, when required, shall be in
accordance with the specification of painting or repainting of public lighting
columns as stipulated in the current lighting MOM contract. The colour of
the finish paint shall be silver grey to RAL 9007 for an unpainted column
or matching with the existing colour for a painted column.
i) The existing column number obstructed by the new SNP/TS shall be covered by paint of colour silver grey to RAL 9007 for an unpainted
column or matching with the existing colour for a painted column.
ii) The reprovision of lighting column number shall be the same orientation and shall comply with the specification of painting or repainting of public
lighting columns as stipulated in the current lighting MOM contract.
iii) The column painting and column number reprovisioning works should be completed by the contractor responsible for the attachment of SNP/TS.
