5G Collaboration between CMCC and Keysight (June 2014)

Keysight in 5G

In June of this year, Keysight and CMCC publicly announced that we were engaged with an MOU on 5G research. CMCC is

developing a technology they refer to as “Smart Tile”, and each

tile is not much bigger than the size of the iPhone 5.

This Smart tile today operates at 6GHz, with 20MHz BW, and

LTE PHY. CMCC is looking to create an array of these tiles, in

many shapes, such as the Chinese character “中” as shown

here.

Picture if you will in the future, a 5G array being built into the

signage of a building, rather than yet another giant cell phone

tower in the skyline. These Smart Tiles can then be built up into

larger arrays, of 32, 64, or say 128 channels such as in the

illustration on the right.

Keysight is currently providing test solutions for ALL phases of

CMCC’s development cycle – from simulation to testing of these
