Gods glory through Holy Week andEaster...Gods glory every weekIve been wring and preaching a lot re-

cently about Gods glory. Simply put, Glory

is Gods manifest presence. Theres a

difference between Gods omnipresence

and Gods manifest presence. Omnipres-

ence is the truth that God is everywhere all

the me. Manifest presence is when Godmakes his presence known beyond doubt.

James McDonald puts it like this, Glory is

the supernatural signature where God has

been at work. (Vercal Church, 83) Omni-

presence will not sustain us, but glory will!

Gods glory was seen at Tyler Street

throughout Holy Week and on Easter.

Starng with Palm Sunday, I observed wor-

shippers moved by Gods Spirit. Children,youth and adults gave glory, praise and

honor to God. In response, God revealed

His glory.

On Maundy Thursday three members of

our church shared what Jesus means to

them. Each gave a powerful witness of

Gods manifest presence in their lives.

Each bore witness to Gods sustaining and

life giving presence. One of the speakers

was a young female. With transparency

and courage she spoke of her own person-

al struggles, and how Jesus was rescuing

her.

Good Friday

brought us to the

cross. The choir

ushered us into

Gods presence as

we reflected on

Jesus selfless andsacrificial love. He

was not a vicm of circum-

stance. Out of love for us,

he chose the cross. We le

that evening silently, but

not silently sad. Rather, we le silently

convicted; silently inspired; silently pas-

sionate about serving The Lamb.

Easter Sunday morning began with glo-ry. About ninety people from different

congregaons in Oak Cliff gathered on our

lawn for a sunrise worship service. Lead-

ers from the congregaons led in the ser-

vice, and our own Pastor Cheryl preached

a powerful, powerful message of resurrec-

on. One of the residents of Tyler Street

Manor heard something from her apart-

ment and looked out. When she saw the

sunrise worship, she opened her window

and worshipped with us from an upper
