FACULTY OF HUMANITIES & SOCIAL SCIENCESLike nouns, the Faculty of Humanities and Social

Sciences is all about people, places, and things.

Interested in why we act the way we do? Think it’s

important to study the past in order to create a better

future? Excellent. You’re right where you belong.

After I complete my degree, I hope to become a one-on-one therapist. TWU’s specialized psychology classes have greatly helped me better understand the counselling process, and what is helpful and effective in acknowledging others’ pain and suffering.

Chemistry

My introduction to chemistry research and education at Trinity Western has motivated me to further my studies with graduate school. My end goal is a career that has a balance between research and education. I’m grateful that TWU gave me experience in both of these fields, with opportunities to teach freshman chemistry labs and complete research in France during the summer. p

SCHOOL OF BUSINESSIn today’s competitive marketplace, credentials are

no longer enough—you need to stand out in a crowd.

In our School of Business, you’ll earn your degree

while practically preparing for the business world.

Adam Wowchuk

Brandon, MB

3rd-year, Business Administration

““

I want be a valuable asset—not just in terms of what I know, but who I am. Having a sound mind, an ability to think critically, avoid bias, and work out of a place of service may not be things you put on a resume, but I know they’ll have an invaluable impact on how I work. The education I receive at Trinity Western doesn’t just improve my technical abilities, but helps me practically connect my purpose as a follower of Jesus with whatever I do.

After my education, I want to teach overseas, possibly in an orphanage or international school. My education at TWU has definitely prepared me for wherever I teach in the future—overseas or in North America. My TESOL and education classes have given me the practical tools I will need in the classroom and my experience as a whole has shaped me into the person I am today (Cheesy, I know. But it’s true!)

“My nursing education has shaped my practice to center my care around the person (as opposed to just the illness) of a patient. I also learned the value of walking alongside an individual in duress, and being a presence of peace and stability for them. The liberal arts component of my education solidified what it means to live as a Christian, and the importance of being a presence of love and service to others in every aspect of my life.

“I am going on to pursue a future in dentistry at UBC in the coming year with a goal to serve both locally and on the mission field abroad. Although I struggled in my first year, the TWU faculty was a huge encouragement during this time, providing extra help and assurance. Most importantly, the friends that I made have pushed me to improve and really exemplified what it means to both live and lead with integrity.”

Develop your faith. You can choose to take part

in some great on-campus programs, like a small-

group Bible study or a student mentorship. You’ll

hear from incredible speakers at our amazing, but

optional, daily chapel. And, because professors

integrate Christian perspectives into their

material, you’ll be challenged to grow spiritually

as you sit in class.

Expand out into the world. Find an outreach

opportunity that’s right for you and use your

talents to change lives for Christ. Here are a few

options:

• Help out in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside

• Volunteer with our local prison and youth

centre ministries

• Join a missions team in countries like Haiti,

Israel, and Cambodia

• Start a new international or local outreach

Brian Bevilacqua ’03

BSc General, BA History

Communications Manager

“A liberal arts degree from TWU can take you places you never expected and open your world to new possibilities. My TWU experience did so much more than simply enabling me to develop relevant career skills—it made me a more aware, more interesting, and more engaged human being.”

Brian took a year off work to help free women from the sex trade in India. Using his talent and experience in communications, Brian helped a human rights agency called International Justice Mission (IJM) document its work in the city of Mumbai. IJM provides safe houses for exploited women where they can gain valuable job training—such as computer skills, jewellery-making, or catering—that they can use to sustain themselves one day.
