Cuta6"-wideby20"-longstripoffabricon the bias*.Alongbothlongedges,useatemporaryfabricmarkertomakeamarkeveryinchalongthestrip’slength.

*Fabricmustbecutalongthebiasforthetwisttoworkproperly.

Withrightsidestogether,foldthefabricstripinhalflengthwise.Shifttheshortendtothefirstinch-markasshown.Pinthetwolongedgestogether,keepingtheinch-marksaligned.

Placea¾"-widestripofdouble-sidedfusibletapealongtheheadbandseam.Positionastripof⅞"-wideribbonontop.Pressthroughalllayerstofusetheribbonontotheheadband.

Presstheseamallowanceopen.

Turntheheadbandrightsideout.Foldandtwisttheheadbanduntiltheseamisinastraightline.Pinthestriptotheironingboardasyouworktoholditinplace.Presswithapressclothtocreasethefabricinplace.

Machine-basteacrossbothshortends of the headband to hold the pleatsinplace.

Laytheheadbandoutonyourworksurface.Cutofftheendstomaketheheadband16"long.

Pleat the fabric at each end by hand sothatitisthesamewidthastheribbon.Pininplace.

Placeasecondpieceofleatherontopofthefirst,sandwichingalloftherawfabricandribbonedgesinside.Glueinplace.

Cutfourmatchingpiecesofleather.Makethem1¼"-wideattheirtopand⅞"-wideattheirbase.Makethem1¼"long.

Cuta6"-longpieceof⅜"-wideelastic.Layoneleatherpiecefacedownonyourworksurface.Placeoneendoftheheadbandontopofthewiderendoftheleatherpiece.Place the elastic at the leather piece’sshorterend.Gluethepiecesinplaceasshown.

Edgestitcharoundtheedgesofboth leather headband ends to securethelayerstogether.
