From the Manager

A s the month of August begins, the golf course is doing

well. A combination of excess moisture and high humid-

ity heat in late June through early July thinned some areas

inour fairwasy. Fortunately some better weather, along with an

aerification and some fertilizer have mostly returned the turf.

Our fairways should continue to thicken and fill in as mid

Aufust weather normally moderates. I am sure there will be

more aerification soon and we will still seed any remaining thin

areas as we pass the middle of the month.

Our greens

have stayed in

great condition

all year and con-

tinue to roll

smooth and true.

As temperatures

cool we will be

doing some verti-

cal mowing and

brushing of the greens to further improve ball roll. A few areas

on some of our collars had a bad reaction to an application of

herbicide and thinned. These areas are also recovering slowly.

We have scheduled our next cart path paving project for

August 13, weather permitting. We plan to pave the area be-

ginning by the tees on Hole #8 where we left off last year and

continue to where we repaved the path on Hole #9 several

years ago. This will substantially complete the repaving of our

front nine holes.

Please remember to replace or fill your divots, repair your

ballmarks (If you don’t know how to properly repair your ball-

mark, there is a video link on the course condition tab on our

website.), rake bunkers, and be responsible with your golf cars

and carts.

DDDDIDIDIDID YOUYOUYOUYOU KNOWKNOWKNOWKNOW: An area of turf 50

feet by 50 feet will provide

enough oxygen for a family of

four. An acre of turf will provide

enough oxygen for 64 people per

day. Twin Lakes provides

enough oxygen for over 7,000

people a day with turf alone. Our

trees add even more..

I hope this article reaches you in good health and spirits.

July was a hot month with little precipitation. Some of the

fairways suffered, but we have begun treatment on those areas.

Overall, the golf course in great shape. I hope you are enjoy-

ing your course!

I greatly appreciate everyone’s patience with the weather

we have endured this summer. I do not remember a summer

being so hot and starting so early! There were a few fairways

that got damaged do to standing water, sun and humidity. We

will be getting these places back in great shape. Over the past

few weeks, I have been able to either play or look at several

courses around the area. I am happy to report that Twin Lakes

is in better shape than most! The maintenance staff has done a

terrific job in keeping the course in great condition. If you see

the maintenance staff, please thank them for all their hard

work.

We will be repaving the cart path on hole numbers 8 and 9

in the coming weeks. We will try to do this on a Monday, Au-

gust 13 to make it as little of an inconvenience as possible. It

is our continued plan to do this every year.

Please remember that Friday night golf social events con-

tinue through August. Golf begins at 5:30 p.m. with a shotgun

start. If you do not want to golf, please come out for dinner

and drinks. Chef Cliff always has delicious buffet on Fridays

for you to enjoy. Please check the home page of our website:

www.twinlakesgolfclub.com to view the weekly buffet menu.

There are many events in the next few months to enjoy.

Please check your golf schedule or with the golf shop for dates

and formats. I greatly appreciate everyone’s continued sup-

port of their club and look forward to seeing you out enjoying

your club. It is always our goal to keep improving the club to

better your enjoyment while keeping it a great value. I wish

everyone a happy and healthy August.

Twin Lakes Beautification 2 Campaign

Wednesday, August 15 @ 5pm

Golf Shop News July has been a pretty calm month as far as our tourna-

ment play goes, but 2 of our biggest tournaments have been

this past July. We had the Twin Lakes Derby on the 14th and

15th and then the Men’s Club Champion started the final

weekend of July.

We also had our first ever Course Beautification day this

past month as well. I can’t express how happy we all are at

the effort and turnout from the members. The weather didn’t

want to cooperate with us very well but that didn’t stop all of

you from showing up! We were able to get anyone that

showed up early started on the course before the rain came

and you all got quite a bit done before the rain hit. We were

expecting only 20 or so people to sign up and instead we had

50+ people sign up! Continue to do the great work you all do

in repairing ball marks and divots and keep the course in fan-

tastic shape!

Club Championship The Club Championship is currently underway. The first

weekend brought a qualifying match and then the first round

of the bracket match play format. The signup for this tourna-

ment was very high this year as well. We are glad to see such

high turnout for the tournaments this year. The third and

fourth rounds will be the first Saturday and Sunday in Au-

gust and the Club Champion for each flight will be crowned

August 5th.

Junior Club Championship This past month we also saw the conclusion of the

Wednesday morning Junior League and the Junior League

Club Championship. The winners of the age divisions are as

follows…..

Girls 6-8 Brooke Henderson

Boys 6-8 Jonah Henderson

Girls 9-11 Sophia Robling

Boys 9-11 Jacob and Joshua Henderson

Boys 12-14 Eli Backus

TL Derby

Another run-filled educa-

tional junior golf program

came to a conclusion.

Over 50 kids came

through Twin Lakes over

the course of the last 10

Wednesdays. Thanks to

all the kids and families

who participated. ..It was

a blast!
