Premier’s Reading Challenge.

There were 55 students who successfully completed this year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge. I would like to thank the

parents who read to their children, especially in the lower grades. Without your assistance and commitment these

results would not have been achieved. Your child’s certificate is being distributed to the students via their classroom

teacher. I look forward to having more students participate next year and I hope you can all enjoy time in your summer

holidays to spend time reading and enjoying literature.

Sue Worcester, Competitions and Premier’s Reading Challenge Co-ordinator

At the Grade 2 sleepover we played silent ball outside. We ate pizza and ice-cream and we watched Meet the Robinsons. We listened to a story before bed.

Hannah

I loved the pizza and the funny and scary movie.

Thomas

I loved the Grade 2 sleepover. We played games, watched movies, ate ice cream, pizza and popcorn. Last of all we watched the Robinsons. I felt so excited and it was so fun!

Ethan

I was extra excited to go to the Grade 2 sleepover. Firstly we had to get our bed ready to sleep on. Secondly we got to go outside and play. I shared a margarita pizza.

Charlotte

I didn’t sleep all night, but it was the best night ever!

‘Illuminate’ an event that celebrates the community and its culture. Designed to mark 20 years since the merger of the cities of Box Hill and Nunawading ‘Illuminate’ is the final hooray and culmination of many celebrations that have occurred across the municipality throughout 2014.

Bringing together images, sound and multimedia you will experience the Box Hill Town Hall in a whole new light. Over three evenings at dusk a specially crafted projection work, shoot with local footage, will transform the facade of the Town Hall. Set to a unique sound track complied from the archives of cities much-loved Whitehorse Orchestra the audience will be taken on a visual and imaginary journey.

Opening Night celebrations will create a carnival atmosphere and feature music and performances set amongst glimpses into the

Whitehorse community through a series of installations and activities.

Illuminate is for all ages, book the date Nov 28 with family and friends, have dinner beforehand and follow the illuminate signs to the lawn in front of the Box Hill town hall, bring a picnic rug or chair and settle in to see your community through different lens. Kids’ activities, music and carnival food start at 6.30pm

The students from our school have made flowers that contributed to the 5000 needed to dress the “big white horse” sculpture. Come down and have a look at our creativity.
