  • Twenty-ninth Crltical Bibliography of the

History and Philosophy of Science and of the History of

    Civilization.

    (to May 1930)

This Twenty-ninth Bibliography contains about 723 items, some of which have been kindly contributed by the following scholars: C. W. ADAMS (Hertford, Eng.). M. BLOCH (Leningrad). F. M. FELDHAUS (Berlin). L. GUINET (Brussels). E. HONIGMANN (Breslau). E. KREMERS (Madison, Wis.).

    A. MARx (New York). A. POGO (Cambridge, Mass.). L. THORNDIKE (New York). H. WIELEITNER (Munich). J. K. WRIGHT (New York).

This bibliography includes the eleventh series of addenda and errata to Volume I of my Introductiotn, to the History of Science (Baltimore and London, I927). An author's index will be found at the end.

Papers and books sent to the Editor are entered into this bibliography if they are relevant to its purpose. They may be the object of analytical notes or longer reviews, if this seems sufficiently necessary and the services of competent scholars are available. It is obvious that only a small number of publications can be adequately reviewed and that it is not even possible to give a brief description of each and every onie. However, our classification is so comprehensive and so minute, that even if we do nothing but give the accurate title of an item and put it in the proper place, we are already rendering a real service to the author, the publisher and the learned public. There is no relation between the importance of a publication and the length of the note devoted to it.

The ultimate aims of this undertaking are (i) to establish the History of Science as an independent discipline; (z) to demonstrate indtuctively the Unity of Knowledge and the Unity of Mankind; (3) to serve as a center of information and rallying ground to the scholars engaged in our studies.
