‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,

not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse!

Page 2: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

The stockings were hungby the chimney with care

in hopes that St. Nicholassoon would be there.

Page 3: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

The children were nestledall snug in their beds,

while visions of sugar plumsdanced in their heads.

Page 4: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

And Ma in her kerchiefand I in my cap

had just settled downfor a long winter’s nap.

Page 5: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

When out on the lawnthere arose such a clatter!

I sprang from my bed to seewhat was the matter.

Page 6: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

Away to the windowI flew like a flash,

tore open the shuttersand threw up the sash.

Page 7: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

When what to mywondering eyes should appear,

but a miniature sleighand eight tiny reindeer,

Page 8: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

with a little old driverso lively and quick;

I knew in a moment, it must be St. Nick!

Page 9: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

More rapid than eagles, his corsairs they came.

And he whistled and shoutedand called them by name:

Page 10: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen!

On Comet, on Cupid,on Donner and Blitzen!

Page 11: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!

Now, dash away!Dash away! Dash away all!

Page 12: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

And then in a twinkling,I heard on the roof

the prancing, and pawingof each little hoof.

Page 13: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

As I drew in my headand was turning around,

down the chimneySt. Nicholas came with a bound!

Page 14: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

He was dressed all in furfrom his head to his foot,

and his clothes were alltarnished with ashes and soot.

Page 15: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

A bundle of toys hehad flung on his back,

and he looked like a peddlerjust op’ning his pack.

Page 16: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

His eyes, how they twinkled, his dimples, how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

Page 17: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

His droll little mouthwas drawn up like a bow,

and the beard on his chinwas as white as the snow!

Page 18: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

The stump of a pipe,he held tight in his teeth,

and the smoke,it encircled his head like a wreath.

Page 19: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

He had a broad faceand a round little belly

that shook when he laughed—like a bowl full of jelly!

Page 20: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

He was chubby and plump,a right jolly old elf!

And I laughed when I saw him—in spite of myself.

Page 21: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head

soon gave me to knowI had nothing to dread.

Page 22: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

He spoke not a wordbut went straight to his work,

and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.

Page 23: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

And laying his fingeraside of his nose,

and giving a nod,up the chimney he rose!

Page 24: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

He sprang to his sleigh,to his team gave a whistle,

and away they all flewlike the down of a thistle.

Page 25: Twas the Night Before Christmas, Blackline Master

But I heard him exclaim‘ere he drove out of sight,

“Merry Christmas to alland to all a good night!”
