smooths judge : Mr. Malcolm MURRAY My interest in dog showing and Smooth Fox Terriers in particular started in the late 1960's, this introduction came from my late uncle, Mr Ken Dickinson of the world renown Ellastone Smooth Fox Terriers.

It was from him that I obtained my early show stock and in due course I bred a litter in 1971 out of Ellastone Mischief, these were followed by other Smooth Fox terriers from different kennels. Other breeds also followed, which included Wire Fox Trs, Australian Terriers, a Lakeland Terrier, a Sealyham Terrier, Standard & Minature Dashunds, a Tibetan Terrier, a Greyhound, English Toy Terriers and most recently Pekingnese, over the years I have had great pleasure in showing these breeds and along the way breeding the occassional litter of Smooth Fox Terriers. In the early years it was Ken that paved the way in the showing scene, however I must mention that the advice and guidance of Peter Winfield (Riber) was readily available. I have bred/owned champions in Smooths, Australian and English Toy Terriers. I first awarded Challenge Certificates to Smooths in the UK in 1989 and have done so on numerous occasions, particular highlights include judging The Fox Terrier Club and being elected as President of The Smooth Fox Terrier Association, I now award CC's in 3 breeds. wires judge : Mr. Andrew GOODSELL My interest with pedigree dogs began by watching Crufts on the TV every year a small child and through my Grandmother who owned a Norwich terrier. I was first introduced to Wire Fox Terriers by my Aunt Joan Vince, who bred my family's pet

Wire, it was Joan who took me to see the Wires at Crufts in 1988 and from then on I wanted to be involved with showing them. Joan helped me with learning the basics with my family pet Wire who I first showed later that year at the London Airedale & Fox Terrier Club and at Richmond- a good dog to learn with, but not the best example of the breed. I then spent my school holidays for several years with professional handlers Lynn and Alison Snow, some time also with Helen Frizell - when I finished school I spent 6 months in the USA with Peter Green and his team. As a handler, the first CC I won was at The Fox Terrier Club in 1995 with the very heavily marked but beautiful bitch Ch. Sceftesbr Cabinet for owner Mrs Jan Kennedy (Sceftesbr) and have now handled 12 Wires and 2 Smooths to their UK titles including some who have won well at Group and BIS level too. As I concentrate on handling for other people, I have only bred 3 litters so far, these have contained some nice dogs including 3 RCC winners and 2 overseas Champions. I have been judging at Open show level in the UK since 1995 and first awarded CC's to Wires at East of England in 2007 and then to Smooths at Manchester in 2010. I have had the pleasure of judging Fox Terriers at breed club shows in Sweden, Italy and France and feel very honoured to have been asked to judge the Wire Fox Terriers at this special show for the Belgian Fox Terrier Club in July and am very much looking forward to the show. BEST IN SHOW judge : Mrs. Margaret HUGHES My interest in dogs and dog showing began as a very young girl when I showed and handled Bullmastiff’s for my father and some of his friends. Many years came between without any dog showing whilst I raised my family until 1990 when I acquired a Wire bitch who was a granddaughter of the great Ch Harrowhill

Huntsman, the Crufts Best in Show winner in 1978. A steep learning curve followed whilst I gained the knowledge and skill to strip and condition a Wire coat to top show condition and to learn the very different method of handling a terrier compared with a Bullmastiff! I later bred several Wire litters gaining Reserve CC’s with at least two bitches. In 2004 I acquired my first Smooth and under guidance from the late Peter Winfield (Riber) I have since gained CC’s with 3 different bitches under my own Forgevale affix, my current bitch having been awarded the Reserve CC at Crufts 2012. From 2004 to 2009 I was Secretary of The Fox Terrier Club and whilst no longer an active member of the Committee, I am still closely involved with the Club. I am Treasurer of Fox Terrier Club of Wales as well as being the Secretary for the Fox Terrier Expo which will take place at the end of August 2012. I started judging the breed in both coats in 2001 and have judged on many occasions since that time. I first awarded CC’s in Smooths in 2011 and am qualified to award CC’s in Wires. I have future appointments to judge the Terrier Group at Open Show level in 2013 and to judge Smooths at Championship level in 2015. I am very honoured to have been invited to judge Best in Show at this special show for the Royal Belgian Fox Terrier Club and look forward to the appointment. Margaret HUGHES
