Learning to ski can be a momentous occasion in a child’s life; potentially opening the door to a lifetime of outdoor recreation and family bonding. Indeed, for many adults, learning to ski at a young age is one of their most vivid and cherished memories.

Some appreciate the social aspects of skiing while others enjoy the excitement and sensation of speeding down a snowy slope. Regardless, most skiers and snowboarders can agree on one thing: Sliding on snow is fun!

So why shouldn’t lessons and learning be as gratifying!? This fundamental idea is at the core of today’s best and most progressive ski and snowboard learning programs, including those at Brundage Mountain Resort.

Learning through play-based activities is perhaps the best way to build skills in children (as well as in teens and adults).

At Brundage we sometimes like to call this “Freeride with a focus”. It is built into our Bear’s for Kids, and Tiny Tracks programs. Friendly, knowledgeable instructors, plus interactive, and engaging elements like the Big Easy Terrain Garden and Enchanted Forest Trails, help to guide the learning process. Not only is this a blast, it also represents perhaps the most natural form of skill building humans can experience. Many learn valuable life skills through play and simulation. In this way, a student, and their natural desire to improve, help them to be an active participant in the positive outcome of any lesson.
