Target Audience

The target audience of the shows that show on the BBC depends on the type of programme and the time it is shown at. I will focus in the target audience of BBC1 and BBC three.

At 6Am the BBC news is shown probably because 6am is considered as the beginning of the day. Its probably targeted at people who go to work or are in education to keep them informed about news, travel and weather.

From 9:00 AM to 2:00 these programmes are aimed at men and women who stay at home and the elderly. Programmes such as bargain hunt, homes under the hammer and doctors are shown at these times.

Page 16: Tv channel research

From 3PM the programmes shown are aimed at children E.g. programmes such as prank control, Dick and Dom go wild and Shaun the sheep are shown. These children's programmes are shown at 3pm onwards because it’s the time that most children finish school.

From 9PM onwards the programmes shown are targeted at adults because some of these programmes contain strong/offensive language. Programmes like have I got news for you and spooks are shown at these times.

at 18+ • These programmes contain:• adult humour & strong language. • Examples: family guy, top gear, Lee Nelson’s

My documentary

I would put my documentary on BBC three because the programmes that they show are educational and educating. I would also be able to gain access to a younger target audience.
