© KC Distance Learning Tutorial: Audacity Slide 1: Audacity is a free program that allows you to create, edit and save sound files. You will need a microphone to use this program. In this first clip you will learn how to record your voice. You can download your free copy of audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net . First you need to locate the mic jack on your computer. It will be next to your speaker or headphone jack. Slide 2: Now you are ready to start using the program. Double-click on the Audacity icon on your desktop to open the program. Here is the control panel. You use the control panel to rewind, play, record, pause, stop, or fast forward your audio clip. Slide 3: So let’s start by recording your voice. Click on the record button. (voice says) “Welcome to Aventa Learning, an on-line educational experience.” Now click on the yellow square to stop recording. Click on the green arrow to play the recording. (voice says) “Welcome to Aventa Learning, an on-line educational experience.” Slide 4: Now it is time to save your work. You are going to click on File > Save Project As. Saving the project allows you to go back in later and make changes later, if you want to. Once you have saved you can export your file as a .wav or as a .MP3 and upload it to the course for your assignment.
