The vision behind the startupSurgery probably is as old as humanity, we have proof of Craniotomies that were done ~10,000 years ago and the patient survived.

If surgery survived for such a long time in an eco-system that is changing relatively fast, it must have a couple of attributes that are highly desired.

Surgery unique attributes: focal therapy (to differentiate from systemic therapy); real time feedback on treatment outcome that is generated by vision and palpation; ability to fix functionality

Surgery weaknesses are: Trauma, morbidity; slow recovery; collateral damage (on the way to the target); on the average 5% to 10% adverse events
