Constructing and extending high speed core railway network

Establishing a domestic railway industry via the cooperation of private sector, foreign investors and TCDD

Producing original solutions in urban rail systems

Revitalisation and functionalisation of Modern Silk Road from Beijing to London

Increasing national and regional logistic and transport capacity via the establishment of Logistic Centers

By protecting the heritage of railway arhcitecture by restoring the stations according to their originality as in the first years of Republlic and making these place attraction centers of the cities

Providing railway connections to organised industry sites, ports and production centers

SIMULTANEOUS ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED ON RAILWAYS

A railway development boom that was handled simultaneously, not passing over any place

and integrated with the other transport modes was started.

While the appropriation allocated for railways were 1.034 million TL in 2003, it reached

7 billion 929 million TL in 2013 .

Current YHT linesı

High Speed Trains (YHTs) were put into operation between Ankara-Eskişehir-Ankara on

13th March 2009.

There were 8 YHT runs per day on 13th March 2009 initially. The runs were increased to

9 on 6th April 2009 and to 15 on 1st September 2009 and to 20 on 1st July 2010.

Viaduct (2.300) mThe longest viaduct of Turkey

The transportation to the other cities are provided by HST+Conventional Train and

HST+Bus connections. . In addition, connection to Kütahya ( 6 times) by DMU sets and

bus connection to Bursa (14 times) are provided after HSTs.

That is why, the travel times are shortened from Ankara to Kütahya and Bursa cities.

3 million 133 thousand passengers have been transported since then.

ANKARA-KONYA HIGH SPEED LINE

Eskişehir –Konya HSL was put into operation on 23rd March 2013. Since the opening of

this line, 153 thousand passengers have been transported.

The travel time between Eskişehir-Konya which was 8 hours by conventional train and

5,5 hours by bus, has been decreased to 2 hours by HSTs.

The contract was signed for Kırıkkale-Yerköy section (80 km) and the construction works

were started.

99% physical progress has been achieved in the infrastructure construction of 143km of line

section under construction.

In other parts of Yerköy- Sivas line section, the construction process is going on.

Superstructure and electromecanical works will be tendered.

Site delivery of Polatlı-Afyonkarahisar section (167 km) was made on 29th June 2012. The construction works

have been started. 7% physical progress has been achieved.

The construction of Afyonkarahisar-Uşak (Eşme) section (178 km) will be tendered. It is currently at the tendering

phase.

The tender for final drawing preparation for Eşme-Salihli (70) and Salihli-Manisa (77 km) sections has been

completed.

The infrastructure construction tender of 9 km in Manisa-İzmir (35 km) section was made on 8th February 2013.

National Railway Signaling System is developed by the cooperation of ; TCDD TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological research Council of Turkey ) İTÜ (Istanbul Technical University)

The signaling project of Afyon-Denizli-Isparta line section (21 stations and 338 km length) will be

achieved by TCDD, TÜBİTAK and İTÜ. This signaling system is aimed to become widespread in

the country.

7.750 km tracks were renewed during the last decade.

The total length of tracks to be renewed in 2013 is 1.098 km. 913 km of these

tracks will be renewed by TCDD and 185 km by private sector.

It is planned to construct 18 Logistics Centers.

5 logistics centers in Samsun, Uşak, Denizli (Kaklık), Köseköy and Halkalı were

put into operation.

The construction works are going on in 6 logistics centers in Eskişehir, Balıkesir,

Bozüyük, Mardin, Erzurum, Mersin (Yenice).

The final drawings and expropriation studies are going on for 7 logistics centers.

13 HST sets, 89 DE Mainline Loco, 12 DMU Sets, 32 Commuter Train Sets are procured.

19 diesel sets (DMU-84 vehicle) are locally manufactured.

The production of 20 DE Mainline locomotive is going on.

The production of 6 HST sets, 80 Electrified Mainline Loco is going on.

ROLLING STOCK FLEET IS BEING RENEWED

ROLLING STOCK FLEET IS BEING RENEWED 106 High Speed Train Sets

51 % contribution margin will exist for 86 of 106 train sets. Minimum speed for 86 sets

will be 250 km/h and for 20 sets the minimum speed will be 300 km/h. Specifications

are being prepared for procurement of the sets.

After İstanbul-Ankara High Speed line is opened wholly for operations in 2015, there will

be a need for HST sets and 5 sets together with 5 sets with loco+coaches will be hired.

5 sets will be tendered on October. Technical specifications for The other 5 loco+coach

sets has been prepared and preperations for tender are going on.
