The 6th Istanbul Fashion Conference that we organized at Shangri-la Bosphorus, Istanbul on May 9-10, 2013 wasopened different from every year with the Opening and Award Ceremony Organization on the evening of May 8th, 2013

with the participation of 500 elite guests. This year the conference was opened by Prime Minister H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During the opening night of the 6th Istanbul Fashion Conference, our Prime Minister gave awards to

prominent names of the sector at TCMA 37th Year Ready-Wear and Retail Award Ceremony. The Conference brought together Titans of Global Textile and Fashion.

At TCMA 37th Year Ready Wear and Retailers Award Ceremony Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented awards to owners of companies that have been active in the sector for 30 years.

During opening night of the conference Istanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kadir Topbaş, and Istanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın came together with Chairmen of TIM, IHKIB, and ITHIB, previous chairmen of TCMA, chairmen of sectoral associations, unions, representatives of significant brands of the sector, TCMA members, representatives of ready made and textile sector, producers, sub-industrialists, representatives of companies and corporations active in various fields.

Erdoğan addressed the textile world during the Opening and Award Ceremony on May 08th, 2013 and expressed his appreciation of the TCMA, all companies and corporations that participated in and supported the conference and everyone who participated in the conference from abroad.

09 May 2013 – Istanbul Fashion Conference organized by the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association (TCMA) for the sixth time this year took place at Shangri-la Bosphorus on May 9th-10th. Many significant

global brands and buying groups came together with Turkish producers in the conference and met with suppliers. Total volume of trade reached about 200 Million products in the conference which targets a total of 2.1 Billion

Dollars in volume of trade with 36 buying offices and local buying brands.09 May 2013 – On the first day of the conference the scientific program was opened by Minister of the European

Union Egemen Bağış.

TCMA Chair of Board Cem Negrin said during his speech at the opening ceremony that as Turkish Clothing Manufacturers’ Association they were very excited to bring together once more “titans of the global fashion and ready

wear sector” under the roof of “Fashion Conference”.

Cem Negrin said that with participants from 8 countries, 50 global brands and buyers came together with Turkish producers in this year’s organization.

Following opening speeches the session titled “Natural Fibers and Constant Demand for Renovation” sponsored byone of the most significant sponsors of the conference, The Woolmark Company took place.

The session was opened by The Woolmark Company Country Manager for Turkey A. Mahmut Koçak. Keynote speakers of the session Chairman and CEO of Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Akeroyd and

renowned fashion writer and historian Colin McDowell shared some significant information.

The Economics Session sponsored by Invest In Turkey was moderated by Bloomberg HT Economics Coordinator Özlem Dalga.

Deputy Chairman of Prime Ministry of Republic of Turkey Investment Support and Promotion Agency (TYDTA) Arda Ermut, COFACE Insurance Board Member and General Manager Belkıs E. Alpergun and IFC (International Finance Corporation) Chief Strategist William Haworth participated in the Economics Session as speakers.

One of our most important sponsors that have supported our conference since its beginning Cotton Council International and Cotton Incorporated Director Marsha Powell’s presentation collected great attention.

This year Supply Session that is one of the most vital parts of our conference hosted senior managers of two significant supply companies from Britain.

Sprint Near East Manufacturing Board Member and Country Manager for Turkey Esra Ercan Taşören moderated the session where Director of Sainsbury, that is the largest supermarkets chain of the United Kingdom, James Brown and Global Supply Director for Debenhams, Adam Creasey participated as speakers.

CEO of Italian Miroglio Group, Giuseppe Miroglio participated in our conference and shared with us Miroglio Group’s initiatives in Turkey.

J Brand CEO Jeff Rudes made a presentation to participants about his brand.

Nebim Neyir Computer Industries and Services Inc. that we have been working with at our conferences for 4 years and that is one of the most rooted individual software companies in Turkey with accumulation of information and experience since 1966 gave a video presentation that received great appreciation.

The session titled “Dual of Doyens: Export? Retail? Or both?” that collected the greatest attention was moderated by Chairman of one of the most significant brands of Turkish ready wear sector Roman Ready Wear Inc., Turgut TOPLUSOY. Style Shoots that is presented for sale in Turkey under distributorship of Astaş-Juki was advertised by the creative name of Yeni Nesil Photo Studios, Maurits Teunissen.

“Fashion and Trends” session moderated by Vogue Turkey Chief Editor Seda Domaniç hosted Carola Seybold, who is the EMEA Regional Director of PANTONE that is used by millions of companies in the

world and that determines the trendy colors of the day and Catriona MacNab who is the Creative Committee Director of the world-famous WGSN company that determines upcoming trends in fashion.

36 representatives of major global brands with buying offices in Turkey met with local brands and buying groups from abroad.

The B2B meetings, a classic of TCMA Conferences were another success this year.

Buying groups met with suppliers on both afternoons at specially designed stands and meeting desks at Shangri-la Bosphorus, Istanbul Ballroom.

While appointment durations were limited with “5-10 minutes” in previous years, this year appointment durations were brought up to “15 minutes” upon high demand.

This year producers that wanted to introduce their products to buying groups found the opportunity to present their collections at special capsule booths. They came together on appointment with buying offices based in Turkey and new

buying groups that came from abroad. Conference participants that wanted to meet with representatives of buying groups came together at special design booths upon 15-minute B2B – business to business appointments they scheduled online in

advance.
