Tumblr Instruction:Contribute to ‘Inspire Me 2014’

Step 1: In order to access and contribute to my social space you are required to create a tumblr account. This is very simple as the tumblr site leads you through the steps. To begin with in your internet web address enter: www.tumblr.com and you will be presented with a page much like the picture below. To create an account you need to click on the ‘sign up’ button which is located bottom left hand corner. If you already have an account with tumblr feel free to log straight in!

Step 2: Once you have selected the ‘sign up’ option it will redirect you to this page. From here you need to create your password and username with the use of your current email address. After following the sign up instructions and process you are now one step closer to sharing your own personal inspiration.

Step 3: The screenshot below is a picture of my ‘dashboard’, which is much like a profile page. Your screen on your computer should look much the same. From this page it allows you to navigate your way through tumblr with a few helpful features.

Step 4: The white toolbar at the top of your dashboard has your most frequently used options. This toolbar includes the options to add text to your dashboard, upload a photo to your dashboard so your followers can view them, creating/adding quotes, using links, chatting with fellow people on tumblr, searching audio and video. Already from experience as a new member of tumblr I have found this toolbar very helpful. Directly above this white toolbar there are more navigation options including: your home button (dashboard), opening your mail which may have been sent to you from other people on tumblr, the question mark symbol which is the help button if you are ever unsure about something on tumblr, your setting button to customize and change your dashboard to best suit the user and following that is the power button which allows you to log off your tumblr account.

Step 5: Another option on tumblr is to search on this social space. In order for you to contribute or ‘submit’ to my social space you will need to search my account. The search toolbar is located far right side in lone with your white toolbar. In the search bar type in ‘inspire-me-2014’ an my page will pop up just as you can see below. It is important that you add the dashes between each word in the search bar in order to find my page. Once it has come up underneath click on the name and it will redirect you to my page!

Step 6: You have now entered onto my ‘Inspire Me 2014’ tumblr page. From here I invite you to read my description so you have an idea of what I want this social space to achieve. After you have read and understood the outline of my tumblr page I then would like you to contribute or ‘submit’ to my page as I get inspire every day by the people that share he same inspiration and passion as I do. To do this underneath my description writing there are a few options such as; ‘ask’, ‘submit’ and so on. Click on the submit option to contribute you inspirational capture.

Step 7: The result of clicking the submit button is the option to contribute your inspirational capture to my page. Your computer screen could look much like the picture below. From here we need to make sure you change the option from ‘text’ to ‘photo’.

Step 8: To ensure tumblr allows you to contribute to my page you need to click on the ‘text’ option in the top left hand corner of your contribution box. From here you will get a drop down list which gives you different submission options. On my page you need to select the photo option which will allow you to contribute you photo. It is very important you tick the small box in the bottom left hand corner near the writing ‘ I accept the terms of submission’. If you do not tick this box it will not let you contribute to my page so it is essential that you follow this instruction. If you want to read the ‘Terms of Submission’, click on the words in the option and tumblr will lead you to the terms.

Step 9: Now your submission option should look much like the picture below. In order to upload your photo you need to click on the ‘choose a photo’ button which is located in the center of your inspirational capture box. The result of clicking this is you will be able to upload your photo from anywhere on your computer.

Step 10: On my computer my option allows me to search my computer for a photo to upload, your computer will do the same but may look slightly different depending on what type of computer you are on. After selecting your photo click the ‘choose’ button located bottom right corner of your computer search box.

Step 11: The next step to uploading your photo to my page is to write your caption. I invite you to rite a brief description about where the photo was taken, why it inspired you and who captured you inspirational moment. I have included below an example description to give you an idea as to what to write. After completing your caption click the submit button located bottom right corner.

Step 12: You will then get a ‘thankyou!’ from my page and you post is now awaiting approval from me. This shouldn ’t take too long to approve as all I have to do is log in! to view my page again all you need to do is scroll to the top and you will now have the updated page.

Step 13: You have now become a valued member to my ‘INSPIRE ME 2014’ page and have contributed to my quest of expanding my inspiration horizon with all different kind of captures!
