Typography.The word itself, left in plain font, is just a word, but it encompasses an infinite realm of possibilities.

Typography is one of my favorite pastimes.

Back in the days when was a novelty, I often lost myself in the various shades, fonts, and effects.

WORDARTMy skills grew up with me, and at 11, I taught myself how to useHTML coding to create web pages filled with “pretty words.” I began adding it to

artwork, both digital and traditional, to add a new dimension. I found that typography added a depth and emotion that was much easier to relate to.

All of the parts in typography work together to achieve a message. For example, the leading, or spacing between lines, and the tracking, or spacing between letters, control the pace of the reading, without the reader knowing.

It’s teamwork.

TYPOGRAPHY made me that kid in the group who gets excited to put together the presentation, and also made me aware of the little things, the layers that make up the big picture, and ultimately the fact that presentation is key to get the point across.

I create layouts and advertisements for clubs at Quinnipiac as well as clubs at other schools, and I’ll never consider it work, because an effective, finished piece of typography is as rewarding as taking a good photograph.

Since pictures are worth a thousand words, typography says much more than one or the other.

As I consider myself both visual and a storyteller, typography is something I will always enjoy doing. My goal is to create something people can relate to personally - and maybe even be inspired by - and typography lets me do that.
