September 17, 2019 Dear Parents: Thank you so much for attending the HSA/Back-to-School Night last evening. Your support, as we work as partners for your children, is greatly appreciated. The winners of the Tuition Raffle are: First Prize Tuition voucher the Camina family Second Prize $100.00 Lands’ End Gift Card the Sincaglia family Third Prize lunch for the month of December the Buhowski family Fourth Prize 10 NUT Cards the Pelosi family Many thanks to Allison Chorba for chairing this event! If you have not already done so, please send the signed Handbook compliance sheet to the office. Our National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony is Wednesday, September 18th at 7pm in the Church. Club brochures and permission slips are included in this Tuesday Packet for students in grade 1-8. They are due back no later than Friday, September 20th. Our first Club Day is Wednesday, September 25th. Picture days are coming! Individual Picture Day is on Wednesday, September 18th. It is a Casual Dress Day for students. Outfits must be Church-appropriate. Please check the Handbook for details. Group Picture Day is on Friday, September 25th. Students must be in complete uniform that day. Place: St. Mary’s Parking Lot Lenox Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ
Items may include:
Useable and Wearable Clothing (men’s, women’s & children’s)
Accessories (handbags, belts, scarves, ties, hats, etc.)
Shoes (bagged separately)
Soft Household Items (linens, tablecloths, towels, etc.)
The following items will NOT be accepted:
Bicycles, Hard Toys, Books, Games, Stuffed Animals, Comforters, Pillows,
Home Goods, Appliances or Furniture.

Clothes are sent to low income areas abroad
and in the USA.

Have fun and win prizes playing "BINGO" with Mrs. Brehm!
• Grades 1-3 Hand Art Club (Limited to 15 students) o Mrs. Kucyna Moderator
Come join us and let your creativity flow. We will be making awesome art using our hands and crayons and markers. Our hands will be our “models”. Can you draw a giraffe, a bird or a wolf using your hand for a model? Come find out and have fun doing it.
• Grades 2-4 BeBots (Limited to 12 students) o Mrs. Chorba Moderator
Come explore and create interactive games with BeBots.
• Grades 3-5 Seasonal Crafts (Limited to 15 students) o Mrs. Connolly Moderator
$5.00 per child to cover the cost of supplies Students will create a variety of Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving themed projects that could be used to decorate their homes year after year.
• Grades 3-5 Meditative Mandalas Club
o Mrs. Buhowski Moderator
Did you know that the simple act of coloring a picture can be beneficial in relieving stress and anxiety? In Meditative Mandalas we will use mandalas as a form of meditation. We will color pre-made mandalas as well as practice creating and drawing mandalas ourselves. By coloring and creating mandalas we will focus on relaxation, calming our nerves, and invoking positive energy into ourselves.
• Grades 4-8 Chess Club
o Mrs. Didio Moderator
Come and learn how to play chess with your friends! All levels (beginners and advanced) are welcome to join! Please bring a chessboard if you have one.
• Grades 5-8 Sci-Fi Movie Club o Mrs. Feld Moderator
We will be watching classic Sci-fi Monster movies from the 1950s, starting with the most memorable monster of all “The Blob.”
• Grades 6-8 School Mass Choir o Mrs. Limey Moderator
Come and rehearse and prepare songs for our weekly liturgies!
• Grades 6-8 Wiffle Ball Club (Limited to 22 students) o Mrs. Pereny Moderator
• Grades 7-8 Yearbook Club
o Ms. Quintavella Moderator
This club runs the first, second and third marking period so the students can work on the 2019-2020 yearbook for SMS.
