MSBL / MABL World Series Spotlight on
Larry Bergren (Las Vegas Mavericks)
Do it the right way and it
will be more enjoyable for
everyone. That’s an appro-
priate mantra for Larry
Bergren, Las Vegas MSBL
League President and
manager of the Las Vegas
Mavericks. With a 45+
tournament team and a
Father/Son team, Larry has plenty of respon-
sibility to insure that his fellow players havea successful experience. A computer analyst
for Clark County, Nevada for 24 years, he is
used to getting things right. Over the course
of his 19 years as a player and 15 as a team
manager, Larry has seen a lot of baseball. He
has a real understanding for what players are
looking for when they put on their uniforms
and lace up their spikes. Larry says running a
20 team mens baseball league cannot be
treated like most other businesses. You have
to be sensitive to the fact that guys are
applying their personal time and money for
recreation in a competitive setting, and all thedecisions that league leaders make must be
for their safety and enjoyment. Larry and
Doniece (his bride of 29years) have four
children; Chaliece (26), Tyler (24), Sarah
(19), and Bradley (14), their soccer player.
Tyler will be accompanying his dad for the
fourth year to the Father/Son week. Larry
told Doniece 19 years ago he wanted to come
to the World Series for a once in a lifetime
experience. He had so much fun, it was all he
could talk about it for a year. Her support and
encouragement was special. She had a trophy
made up for him recognizing his participa-
tion, and he still has it on display at home.
When she realized what an incredible time
he had, she encouraged him to come back,
and he has every year since. Larry’s most
memorable moment occurred when he was
pitching his first F/S year with Tyler, and
watched him run down a long fly ball in left
field with a spectacular catch. He says though
that kind of moment has been repeated many
times, the first was one he’ll never forget.
Larry has tried to eliminate ties in his local
league, and since he understands the need for
games to be (continued on page 2)

Salt River Fields Parking Specified For Diamondbacks / Rockies Fields By Tom Prendergast
New to the MSBL / MABL World Series this year is the Salt River Fields Complex in
Scottsdale. Without a doubt this complex is one of the very finest in the greater Phoenix ar
If you are going there for a game later this week, teams playing on the “Rockies” fields
should park in the “Home Field Parking Lot”. Teams playing games on the “Diamondback
fields should park in the “Desert Parking Lot”.
Regarding the courtesy runner, it’s always the last batted out that gets to run. In the even
this would take place in the first inning with no outs, the last batter in the line up would ruIn the event of an A / B batter, the position not batting would be the runner. And remembe
that regardless of what division your team is playing in, the minimum number of batters in
the lineup is always 10. An exception to this is if one team only has 9 batters, then the othe
team has the option to only bat 9 as well. We have made a change to the 25+ Federal Play
offs, and the revised playoff schedule can be found on page 3.
Special I Phone 4 And I Phone 4S Offer For MSBL / MABL MembersThe folks at Sprint have come up with a special offer for all MSBL / MABL players who

Larry Bergren (Las Vegas Mavericks)(continued from page 1)completed in a timely manner, applies the mercy
rule to balance that out. The run rule also pro-
motes respect for opponents who have little
chance of catching up in the score. Always look-
ing for the best and most appropriate way to ad-
minister his league, Larry will continue to seek
ideas to make baseball enjoyable for everyone.
