Committed: To pledge oneself to a position on an issue or question; i.e. to do, to perform, to entrust.

Complacent: To be pleased, especially with oneself or one’s merits or situation, often without awareness of potential danger or defect; self-satisfied; i.e. “the voters are too complacent to change the government.”

Given the growing public and government interest in how we manage nutrients and agrichemicals, it can be tempting to just tune it all out and go about business as usual. But is there a future in “business as usual?” Are you committed or complacent? The theme of the 2016 IFCA Convention is all about being com-mitted and resisting the temptation to be complacent about the future of the ag input industry. These aren’t trying times, these are telling times! Attend the IFCA Convention and learn about what you can do to succeed, lead and demonstrate your commitment to the future of the ag input industry and the success of your company.

• Agronomy Training: On January 19, we’ll have project updates from the Nutrient Research & Education Council and other agronomy topics. We’ll also feature a special session taught by Dr. Bill Simmons focusing on specific nutrient management topics to help everyone better understand 4R practices and prepare CCAs to take the 4R Certification exam in February 2016.

• Process Safety Management: This new OSHA regulation is significant and IFCA will feature an in-depth PSM training session on January 21st to review the compliance tools and answer your questions. Managers and operations managers of ammonia facilities should attend.

• The Big Picture on Nitrogen: So much has changed with natural gas in the US and the manufacturing footprint of nitrogen; learn how this impacts the wholesale and retail business.
