Announcements/ Dates/ Recaps:

• New Look! Tucson Ultimate is proud to bring in the New Year by

unveiling a new look! Our Board and volunteers worked hard to create

Tucson Ultimate's new logo and website background. You can see all the

changes we are making to improve our site and organization on our

website: www.tucsonultimate.com and check out what else is new in the

Tucson Ultimate community.

• Thank You! - Thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to help TU

run in 2019! We had a blast at the VAN event this November and look

forward to honoring volunteers again next November! Also, thank you to

those who came out to the annual members meeting!

• Congrats! Congratulations to our Fall league champs as well as Laura

Morehouse for winning the Larry Heater Award this fall!

• Board Elections! Congratulations to Cally Arnett and Nicole Garnes on

being re-elected as board members for the 2020-2022 term. They will

continue serving with Tim Wood, Michelle Tanner, Kyria Kershner, and

Chris Hohmann.

• Call For Volunteers We still need two more board members for this term.

[email protected]. We are always looking for new

volunteers!

• Savage Love! Tucson's annual February tournament is coming up! Don't

forget to register your teams!

• Outreach! If anyone is interested in helping out with youth or women's

outreach, please let us know! You can contact us via email at

[email protected] or via the facebook page!

• Donations! Sim is collecting old league jerseys to sell at $5 each for a

youth fundraiser. If you've been meaning to clean out your closet or just

have way too many jerseys, please give them to Sim!

Tucson Area Opportunities to Play:

Youth League, Tucson AZ Tucson Ultimate will hold Youth Indoor at Maracana

running on 1.12.20 and 1.26.20 from 12pm-1pm. It's an hour of fun paced play

for aged 8-16 for $15! For more information or to sign up, follow this link!

Youth's outdoor league dates will start in mid February on Wednesday nights

from 5:45pm-7pm. More info will be posted on the youth page soon!

Men's Winter Outdoor League (Sunburn Fundraiser) Tucson, AZ Arizona's

Sunburn, the University of Arizona Men's Club Ultimate team, is hosting a

men's outdoor league as a fundraiser. There will be 4 teams selected in a

captains' draft. It starts on January 15th and will run through February 12th at

Ochoa Park from 8pm-10pm with each team having one 2-hour game per night.

Registration is $20 per player. Sign ups are currently open and close on

Windoor, Tucson AZ Windoor is back by popular demand! The 5-week league

will be on Tuesday nights at Maracanã starting January 28th with 1-hour

games starting at 7pm and 8pm. ALL experience levels are accepted and

Monday Night Mindoor - Registration for the January Mindoor Cycle is now

open. It's played at Maracanã Indoor Sports Arena on Monday nights from

7pm-8pm. January dates are:

• 1.13.20

• 1.27.20

Friday Night Indoor - Frindoor is up and running! This is a competitive indoor

league with two 30 minute games each night. Check the website for dates,

information, and to sign up!

Savage Love, Tucson, AZ - Tucson's Annual Savage Love tournament will be

held February 15th. Be on the lookout for our sign-up page to open up soon!

Co-Ed Spring League

Our outdoor co-ed spring league will open for signups in early February! This

league welcomes players of all skills levels. League is on Wednesday nights

from 7pm-10pm with the first game starting at 7:15 pm and the second starting

at 8:40pm. Be on the lookout for more information about dates coming soon!

Other Happenings in Tucson:

Tucson Ultimate's New Insurance

With a new year always comes new changes, and one thing that the board has

decided to change is the way we do insurance. In the past, the board has paid

for an affiliate membership for each person who signs up for a TU event. We

have grown so much as a community that it is no longer feasible for us to

continue doing this. Effective the 1st of January, we are shifting the

responsibility to the players. This means for your first TU event that you sign up

for, you will be required to pay an additional $18 for an affiliate membership

through USAU. This membership lasts for a calendar year and is effective for

all TU events.

For individuals intending to play club or college, we suggest purchasing your

adult membership for $64 through USAU. Otherwise, if you purchase the

affiliate membership then the adult membership, you'll have to work with USAU

to get a refund for the $18 since it's included in the adult membership.

This is a new process for the community. As we figure out this transition, we

Tucson Ultimate Partners with Roadrunners! Tucson Ultimate is partnering

with the Tucson Roadrunners to fundraise for the TU Youth program. Buy

tickets HERE to attend a Roadrunners game on Saturday February 1 at 7pm

(Harry Potter night!) Tickets are discounted from their original price, and a

percentage of each ticket sale goes back into the TU community to help build

our Youth Leagues! Tucson Ultimate will also get a shout-out during this game.

Please help us by inviting friends and family to attend this Roadrunners game

by sending this link out to everyone you know. (Tickets must be purchased

using the link or the funds will not go to Tucson Ultimate). Additionally, TU

will be promoting our Youth Leagues with a concourse table at the Roadrunners

game on Saturday Febrauary 22nd. We will be handing out promotional items

and information on our leagues to youth and families in attendance. If you're

Professional Ultimate Comes to Arizona! Professional ultimate is coming to

Arizona! The Arizona Sidewinders will play this spring in a newly formed

Western Ultimate League, which was created to bring more opportunities and

exposure to womxn's ultimate. Tryouts are just one month away! Check out the
