Tu es Sacerdos in Aeternum Secundum Ordinem Melchisedech
(You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek)
Congratulations Father Scott on Your 25th Anniversary of Priesthood Ordination!
2
Sixth Sunday of Easter
W elcome! We are glad you are here to join us in worship in the celebration of the Eucharist (Mass). At
the Eucharist, the Church comes together to hear the Word of the Lord, to pray for the world's needs, to
offer the sacrifice of the Cross in praise and thanks to God, to receive Christ Jesus in communion, and then
to be sent forth in the Spirit as disciples of the Gospel. If you are not familiar with the Mass, the Order of the Mass can
be found on pages 3-29 of the Breaking Bread hymnal. We call particular attention to the text of the Gloria and the
Nicene Creed located on the inside cover. The scripture (Bible) readings for today's Mass can be found on pages 162.

Openings on Our Pastoral Council A few of the current members of the one Pastoral Council for our collaborative are coming to the end of their terms. There are openings for members of each parish to join this important consultative group for the parishes within the collaborative. Its purpose is to assist Father Scott in
his leadership role of planning, organizing, initiating, promoting, coordinating and reviewing the evangelization, worship, religious education and service activities within the parish. The Pastoral Council also assists Fr. Scott in fostering pastoral activity and in guiding the mission of the Church in each parish and in the collaborative. When beneficial or necessary, subcommittees of the Pastoral Council will work separately on issues that affect a single parish. One of the primary works of the Pastoral Council for the next year is to assist in the development of our next pastoral plan. Father Scott looks forward to working with both continuing and new members of the Pastoral Council as we continue to implement our local pastoral plan and respond to Pope Francis’ invitation to be bold and creative in this task of rethinking the goals, structures, style and methods of evangelization in our parish communities. (The Joy of the Gospel, n. 33) If you are interested in exploring the possibility of serving on the Pastoral Council, please contact Fr. Scott and
plan on attending the Pastoral Council’s
“Come and See” meeting on Sunday, June 2, immediately following the Amesbury 5:30p.m. Mass

St. John Seminary Deacons Who were ordained on May 18
We are introducing the thirteen men who have been ordained at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Boston on May 18. Please continue to pray for them as they begin their mission to Shepherd God’s people and to spread His Gospel.
Meet Father Maciej Araszkiewicz
He grew up in a Catholic family in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He first thought about becoming a priest when he was about 27. He went on a pilgrimage to Czestochowa, Poland. He was impressed by the faith of the pilgrims he met there. It opened his eyes, to the fact that somebody believed like this. After the pilgrimage, his cousin invited him to attend the catechesis of the Neocatechumenal Way. He agreed out of curiosity and a desire to meet people. He soon joined that community, and at his first retreat he learned about the Redemptoris Mater seminaries. "I was thinking that God answered my prayers about my vocation, where should I go," Father Araszkiewicz said.
After earning a doctorate in mechanical engineering, he received an opportunity to write games for Nintendo Wii, but by that point he was already thinking about entering the seminary. He worked at this job for a month, resigned and entered the seminary. He went on the Neocatechumenal Way's retreat for candidates for the priesthood in Italy, where he was assigned to the Redemptoris Mater Seminary of Boston. "God was helping me all this time, also to abandon myself, and to find his love in the difficulties, to find that whenever I abandon some part of myself, I give myself to him, that he transforms it, and in the end I am happy for the will of God," he said. The Bible verse he chose for his ordination card is Psalm 37:4, "Make the Lord your delight, and he will give you the desires of your heart." "Somebody might say to enter the seminary is such a commitment. But in the end," he said, "I see that God is making my life beautiful."
Please remember in your prayers those who are sick :
May the Spirit of Christ renew the gift of life within them and bring healing to their minds, body and spirit.
