As part of TTLA’s Diversity Committee, the Women’s Initiative exists to en-courage the involvement of new and existing women members. At our Midyearand Annual Conferences, this dynamic group hosts events that include paneldiscussions and guest speakers addressing issues facing female lawyerstoday. Past speakers include TTLA members, State Senators and Representa-tives, Judges, and the first female president of AAJ.

Join us for this year’s PAC Town Hall Luncheon, and BE COUNTED in the fightto help elect candidates who care about preserving the Civil Justice System.

The Annual President’s Luncheon has become a wonderful tradition of cel-ebrating TTLA members who have shown exemplary dedication to the As-sociation and to their clients, as well as a tribute to our outgoingPresident. We’ve also welcomed some notable Keynote Speakers includingformer U.S. Senator John Edwards, political analyst and CNN commenta-tor Paul Begala, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, Newsweek’s Senior Wash-ington Correspondent Howard Fineman, political consultant and analystJames Carville and U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer. This year’s KeynoteSpeaker will be announced soon, but register NOW to ensure your spot!

All TTLA members are encouraged to attend our Annual Membership/Boardof Directors meeting. This meeting is a great opportunity to get a recap ofthe 2009 legislative activities, Committee reports including Membership,Communications, Public Affairs, and the 2009-2010 budget. We’ll also beunveiling our new website and will discuss the 2010 election cycle.

Credit Hours: Application has been submitted to the State Bar of Texas for Adding to your Arsenal:

8 hours with 1.5 ethics, Medical Malpractice: 3.0, and Car Wrecks: 8.00 with 1.50 ethics

which will apply toward MCLE, the College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Texas Board of Legal

Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law, Civil Trial Law and Civil Appellate Law.

Refunds: If you register but cannot attend and would like a refund (less a $50 administrative fee),

please fax your refund request to 512-473-2411 by November 30, 2009. Pre-registrants who do

not attend and do not request a refund by this deadline will be mailed the course materials.

Paperless Course Materials: As part of our ongoing technology initiative, TTLA now

provides our CLE materials electronically for your convenience. Prior to the conference, all

registrants will be given online access to the materials to peruse and print at your leisure.

At the conference, materials will be provided on a USB flash drive to allow easy search-

ing and storage of the materials during the conference and in the future. Don’t for-get to bring your laptop.

Tax Deduction: Educational expenses (including a portion of travel, meals and lodging) related to

maintaining and/or improving professional skills required in employment are tax deductible (see

Treas. Reg. 1.162-5; Priv. Ltr. Rul. 7746068 (Aug. 19, 1977); Couglin v. Commissioner, 203 F2d 307).
