 Not Your Everyday Fairy Tale

Once Upon a Time, in a land very far away, a very mysterious knight

lived. The knight wandered the land, looking for any way to help neighboring kingdoms. On one

of these journeys, the small kingdom of Term was stumbled upon. In perfect timing, too- the

people were in a state of panic. A treacherous Dragon by the name of Fly was terrorizing the

entire kingdom- burning down village by village, stomping field by field.

The people of Term, ‘Termites,’ we’ll call them: were never happier to see

such a mysterious figure in armor show up in their town. They didn’t care where the Knight

came from. They didn’t care how noble or corrupt the Knight was—they just wanted help. They

begged and pleaded with the knight to help them defeat Fly the Dragon. They came to an

agreement that if the Knight saved the people of Term from the evil Dragon, that The Knight

may have the King’s daughter’s hand in marriage: Princess Ant.

The King of Term, King Roach, didn’t like the idea of giving his daughter

away, but he would do anything to save his Kingdom, so he reluctantly agreed. The Knight, out

of chivalry, decided to take Princess Ant out to dinner. The Princess reluctantly accepted: No

suitor presented to her was ever compatible, but she figured she would try it out anyways.

When they arrived at their destination, the Knight sat in silence. The

Princess was pretty let down; not one word was spoken. She just knew it wasn’t going to work

out. She started to get up and leave, when she heard a terrifying screech. She discovered that Fly

the Dragon had arrived, and the only person to defend her was the quiet, mysterious Knight. The

Knight rose the chair and drew a sharpened, silver sword—and soon the Dragon lay on the

ground, huge gashes all over its body. The Princess was in such shock, she clung to the Knight-

as if to give thanks. Princess Ant was very impressed. She didn’t care she had never seen her

suitor’s face, the noble actions just performed proved enough: She loved the Knight.

Suddenly, the Dragon rose again from the ground. It descended into the sky,

scattering blood all across the ground and onto the people of Term- like a maroon rain. The two

stood in shock and watched the Dragon return to its lair.

They rushed to the Castle to tell King Roach of the events that had just

unfolded. He ordered that a team of his finest soldiers be sent with the Knight to slay the Fly the

Dragon. They set out, and by the time they arrived at the destination, only two men remained:

The Knight and another soldier.

They stepped forward to greet the beast, both trembling in their boots. The

Dragon reared its ugly head and the soldier fled from the lair. The Knight had to defeat the

Dragon by himself.

The Dragon got inches away from the Knights face and started breathing

its tart smelling, sour breath into The Knights nasals. Staring right into the Dragon’s eyes, the

Knight was trembling. The Dragon simply breathed its fire breath into the face of his opponent

and the clink of armor fell on the ground.

The soldier who fled from the fight had returned to the Kingdom to tell

King Roach of what had happened. The whole Kingdom was devastated: Especially Princess

Ant. They ordered for The Knight’s remains to be returned to the Kingdom for a proper burial.

The Princess was ready to see her love’s face for the first time- even if in death.

After arrival, the Royal Family gathered in the chamber where the

Knight’s body was being kept. The Princess herself went to remove the helmet of her suitor and

a simultaneous gasp spread through the room in unison: Long blonde hair fell down the Knight’s

shoulders. Her cheeks were still rosy, even after death, and soot smeared over her fare skin.

Princess Ant was so shocked, but she still felt as if she owed it to herself and her savior Knight to

give her one last kiss—she looked down and softly touched her black smeared face. She bent at

her knees to give The Knight one final kiss.

Before her lips reached their destination, she was stopped short: The

servants seized her and screamed loudly,

“A Witch! A homosexual Witch!”

They dragged her into the middle of the town and she was bludgeoned to death.
