Trumpet TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH VOLUME 36 • ISSUE 1 JANUARY 2 0 1 2 Time Flies When... O ften, when I am on a mission trip, God speaks to me in profound ways. So it’s no wonder that on my last trip to India, as I was riding elephants and camels, feeding monkeys and training believers, God spoke to me about our church. When you are in a nation like India you can’t help but be struck by the vastness of this world. The sheer magnitude of millions upon millions of people who are living lives without Christ is staggering. I have been to some 28 countries and have barely glimpsed what it is to understand humanity, let alone all that God is doing among the nations in our generation. However, I do know this; you and I can and must play a vital role in the Kingdom of God in our generation. We cannot afford to get to the end of our lives and to have been average for Christ. When I was in India, I believe God spoke to me and told me that what we do at TBC will affect our reward for all eternity. I don’t know about you, but I desperately want to enter eternity boldly and not with fear. I know that our time is short, and we have to take each day seriously. Because of this reality, God challenged me with the responsibility I have as your pastor to lead you to something worthy of your life. My desire is that one day, when you arrive before our God in Heaven, He will say well done, your sacrifice and work at Trinity resulted in many good things for the Kingdom. I pray that just your association with our church, would have eternal rewards attached to it. It is a scary thing to think that there are churches all over the world that will spend thousands of dollars and thousands of man and woman hours with little to show for their efforts in Heaven. NIV Psalm 127:1 “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for He grants sleep to those he loves.” If we want TBC to be the kind of church that changes not only our community, but the world, we must have extraordinary goals. We cannot settle for mediocrity. My prayer is that God leads us to be the kind of church where we will be able to stand before God with sincere hearts, fully assured we have done all we can to advance His Kingdom with the short time we have here on Earth.
