5 + 83355 - WM Problem Solution Does not turn on or work abnormally Does not respond to your voice Does not accept tablet programming Does not walk properly Does not sit or jump Bone does not light up during feeding Check to see if his batteries are dead. Replace if necessary. TEKNO™’s sound sensors are set up for normal speech and sounds. Try talking louder or clap your hands to get his attention. If the environment is too noisy, TEKNO™ is confused. Try to turn up the volume on the Tablet or move it closer to TEKNO™. TEKNO™ responds best if less than 18 inches (46cm) from the Tablet. Make sure he is in the correct mode to respond to Tablet commands. Noisy background will affect communication between TEKNO™ and tablet. Keep environment quiet when using TEKNO™ app feature. Make sure that he has a clear path from in front of his eyes. His optical sensors automatically stop him from walking if he gets close to objects. TEKNO™ walks best on non-carpeted hard surface. (Not on glass surface.) Make sure TEKNO™ is already in the Gesture Mode, by holding your hand before his eyes and you already hear the ‘beep’ sounds. NOTE: you can use the alternative method to get into the Gesture mode as mentioned previously. Move your hand closer in front of TEKNO™’s eyes, slowly DOWN and UP to make sure he sees your hand. Make sure TEKNO™ sits completely on floor, when you hear warning buzzer noise he is not sitting on a flat surface. Place TEKNO™ on a flatter surface to try. Similarly he will not jump either if he is holding the ball or any other object under his chin. Make sure the arrow on the bone is pointing up towards under his chin. Move the bone around his lower jaw and see if you can find the correct area to activate the bone. If this does not work, replace the batteries in the bone. TEKNO™ is a real robot who responds to your voice, actions, motions, lights, sounds and even an app on your Apple ® iPad ® or tablet of Android™ device. Thanks to his artificial intelligence program, TEKNO™ will bark, cry, whine and change his eye patterns in ways to show how he's feeling. TEKNO™ has state-of-the-art sensors to know if he's being pet, fed, talked to, and played with. In short, he acts just like a real puppy. TEKNO™ features the latest in Robotic Technology: HAND GESTURING CONTROL. With simple movements of your hand, you can command TEKNO™ to stop, sit, and do a back flip jump. But, deep inside his programming, TEKNO™ is still an 8 week old puppy. BATTERIES NOTE: The Bone comes with the batteries already installed. There is no “on/off” switch as the batteries work only when feeding TEKNO™. However, if you need to replace the 3 AG13/LR44 batteries, follow this direction. Follow the instructions included in this manual and learn more about how to care for TEKNO™ – your robotic friend. Or when he is too excited, patting his head will calm him down to listen to you and follow your command. LIGHT LEVEL SENSOR >> Located under his black sunglasses. This responds to changes in light levels. This lets TEKNO™ know the amount of light in the room. EAR POSITION SENSOR >>This sensor helps you to understand TEKNO™’s emotional state. TEKNO™’s computer brain decides his emotional state at all times and will move his ears to the correct position. Just like a real puppy, TEKNO™ may perk up his ears when he is surprised or drop them low when he is sad. GESTURE SENSOR >>This sensor lets TEKNO™ actually “see” the motion and position of your hands in front of his eyes. SOUND SENSOR >>Located on the side of his head, this allows TEKNO™ to hear sounds. His computer will interpret these sounds in a similar manner as a real puppy by use of his artificial intelligence program. As he is still a baby puppy, he cannot identify the sound is from people talking or background noise yet. MOUTH SENSOR >>This is an invisible sensor located in TEKNO™’s chin. This lets TEKNO™ know when he is being fed or holding his special TEKNO™ ball. NOSE SENSOR >> When pressed, this sensor makes TEKNO™ sniff. It will also cause TEKNO™ to stop walking if he runs into an object. TEKNO™ will then immediately begin to sense and explore when his power button is pressed. GESTURE TRAINING PROGRAMMING ADVANCED PROGRAMMING TROUBLE SHOOTING / HINT emotions TEKNO™ needs to be in a good preparation before gesture training. Make sure he is in ready condition for gesture. Let him complete his current action and keep quiet for a few seconds. You can know from his eyes when he is ready (see pic). Hold your hand in front of TEKNO™’s eyes at least 3 seconds. It’s best to be within about 3 inches (7.5cm) away to make sure he clearly sees your hand when he is not walking. You will hear “beep” sounds when he goes into the mode successfully. If you hold your hand over 10 second but TEKNO™ gives no response, you need to retry. HINT 1: TEKNO™ sees your hand as an obstacle when he is walking. He will not get into the gesture mode because it is not safe for him to jump. After making him stop, your hand has to move away from his eyes for 3 seconds then put back again to give him the correct hand command. SIT! First let him sit. Move your hand DOWN smoothly in front of his eyes. If you do this correctly, TEKNO™ will sit. FLIP! From this sitting position, move your hand UP smoothly in front of his eyes and he will do a backflip and bark. HINT2: In this mode do not shake your hand. Give firm command to TEKNO™, otherwise he might be confused of what to do. You may need to have more practices with TEKNO™ together to make him flip successfully. HINT3: If TEKNO™ does not sit properly, TEKNO™ is not ready to flip and will not respond to your hand-up (FLIP) command. You will hear alarm sounds from TEKNO™ to remind you. Move him to a flat surface and retry FLIP command to let him flip. How to keep TEKNO™ happy TEKNO™ needs attention to be happy. Just like a real puppy, it is important to play with him and not forget to take care of him. He needs stimulation to be happy such as patting or rubbing him on the head, talking to him, or clapping your hands. You will see his ears move, his eyes flash, his tail wag, and he will happily walk seeking adventure. You should also remember to feed him with his energy bone at least once a day. You can feed him more if you like. TEKNO™ always likes to eat. What makes TEKNO™ unhappy Not feeding, petting and playing with him or left him for a long time. TEKNO™ shows you that he is unhappy by crying and moaning, his ears go down, and his eyes display a sad pattern. ALKALINE BATTERIES RECOMMENDED PUPPY USES 4 X [ AA / LR6 ] BATTERIES (NOT INCLUDED).
