Tropical Rainforest Biome
The tropical rainforest is a hot, moist biome found near Earth's equator. The world's largest tropical rainforests are in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Tropical rainforests receive from 60 to 160 inches of precipitation that is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year.
Tropical Rainforest Flowers
● Epiphytes. Epiphytes are plants that live on other plants. ... ● Bromeliads. The pool of water in a bromeliad is a habitat in itself. ... ● Orchids. Many rainforest orchids grow on other plants. ... ● Rattan Palm. ... ● Amazon water lily (Victoria amazonica) ... ● Rubber Tree (Hevea brasiliensis) ... ● Bougainvillea. ... ● Vanilla Orchid.●
The Rafflesia arnoldii has the biggest flower in the world. This rare plant grows on vines that cross the forest floor. It is
found in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra.
Rafflesia arnoldii flowers can reach 1 m (3 ft.) in diameter. They produce a smell like rotting flesh, which is how they got the
name ‘Corpse Flower’. This scent attracts the flies which will pollinate the flower.
No tropical rainforest plants list would be complete without a carnivorous plant! Pitcher plants have evolved to prey on insects. They grow in areas where the soil is low in nutrients.

The ocelot, also known as the dwarf leopard, is a wild cat distributed extensively within South America, including the
islands of Trinidad and Margarita, Central America, and Mexico.
The kinkajou is a rainforest mammal of the family Procyonidae related to olingos, coatis, raccoons, and the ringtail and cacomistle. It is the only
member of the genus Potos and is also known as the "honey bear".
The term agouti or common agouti designates several rodent species of the genus Dasyprocta. They are native to Middle
America, northern and central South America, and the southern Lesser Antilles.
Human impactIf we are destroying rainforests everyday bit by bit and our world will become more populated and earth's capacity will be overfilled and we will run out of natural resources or any other resources in the world of earth.
Plants and animalsThere are many species of plants and animals in the rainforest. A common estimate is that
approximately half of the world's animal species live in rainforests. Another estimate is that
25 percent of the world's medicine is derived from rainforest plants.
Rain Forests are defined as dense forests with high amounts of annual rainfall Most often located tropical regions.
Temperate Rainforest may often have more coniferous trees such as pines, firs and redwoods; whereas Tropical Rainforest contains more broad-leafed trees.
Tropical rainForest climate
The climate of a tropical rainforest is very hot and wet. The average temperatures of a tropical rainforest are about 80 degrees F all year round with an exception of cool nights. The temperature of the rainforest has never dropped below 64 degrees F. It rains about 160-400 inches each year.

Climate change and deforestation could convert the majority of the Amazon Rain Forest into
savanna, with massive impacts on the world's biodiversity and climate.
Why the tropical rain forest is importantBy absorbing carbon dioxide, rainforests help to reduce the effects of worldwide climate change. In addition to the important role rainforests play in Earth's climate, they also are an important home to about half of the
species of plants and wildlife on the planet.
