Dear Readers, May 14 had its share of excitement for two reasons, the families were looking forward to a good vacation, and on the other side, interestingly the entire nation and may be the entire world, was patiently waiting for the results of the Lok Sabha Elections. Though the outcome was almost certain and obvious, the Lotus symbol had the majority mandate for stability overnight, promising overall development & progress with good governance. A majority mandate enables to form a stable government assuring sustainable policies that will foster a strong economy and growth. It is sad that corruption seems to be deep rooted in the country and perhaps a change of guard at the Centre was inevitable from the common man’s perspective. Hope, the new government will bring about the required changes, implement the anti-corruption laws in letter and spirit and give priority in much needed infrastructure development. The recent elections bring to the fore the changing mind set of the people in rejecting the elected representatives who do not deliver. This also reinforces the people’s determination in stamping out all evils detrimental to a civilized society. Atrocities on women are on the rise despite very stringent Legislations to deal with rapes, cruelty on women, Sexual Harassment, etc. While the laws are good enough to contain the problem, lack of will of the authorities concerned is the major impediment in implementing the laws. Unfortunately, the atrocities on women continue unabated even today. Hope, the menace will be tackled soon? Ethics has become a buzzword among Corporates and they believe no business can sustain if they did not subscribe to and practice ethical values. Any and every falsehood demonstrates a willingness to deceive and inspires the doubt: "What else have you lied to me about?" Just like tiny germs can cause deadly infections, little lies can kill credibility. 2. Excuses and justifications for lying are much more persuasive to the liar than the person lied to. 3. Every undiscovered lie is like a hidden land mine ready to explode a reputation or destroy credibility. 4. Honesty and forthrightness don't always pay, but dishonesty and concealment always cost. Nothing good may come of admitting wrongdoing, but it gets a lot worse when you don't. 5. Lies breed like rabbits. Once you start lying, it takes an ever-growing bodyguard of new lies to protect the old ones. 6. You can't lie to a liar or cheat a cheater without becoming a liar or cheater. If you "fight fire with fire," all you'll get in the end are the ashes of your own reputation. Dear Readers,

May 14 had its share of excitement for two reasons, the families were looking forward to a good vacation, and on the other side, interestingly the entire nation and may be the entire world, was patiently waiting for the results of the Lok Sabha Elections.

While on the subject, I would like to reproduce the Six Rules of Credibility for a self introspection.

1. Where trust is truly important there are no little lies.
