Brief Overview
• The Trojan prince Paris fell in love with Helen, wife of Menelaus, king of Sparta. He took her to Troy and they got married. Menelaus was infuriated and with his brother Agamemnon he declared war on Troy. The Greeks had trouble finding Troy and attacked many cities on their way to Troy. When the got to Troy the Greeks could not get inside Troy’s great walls. After ten years of fighting the Greek hero Odysseus had a brilliant idea. The Greeks constructed a large hollow wooden horse and hid some of there best warriors including Odysseus inside it. The Trojans thinking they had won the war pulled the horse inside the city. At night when the citizens were asleep and the soldiers were drunk the Greeks come out of the horse. They killed the king of Troy, burned the city, and took Helen back to Sparta.
