Enjoy the almost unlimited possibilities of an active and exciting vacation offered by the Kufstein region embedded in the fantastic mountain region of Tyrol. Surrounded by crystal clear lakes and blooming meadows lies the Austrian town Kufstein proposing extraordinary features.Of course the breathtaking mountains are also the heart of winter sports activities inviting families to enjoy the vast skiing offer. However, not only alpine but also cross country skiing across the holiday region, sledding on illuminated tracks, natural ice skating rinks and winter hiking trails delight the younger and elder ones.

TriStar is an international triathlon event series held over various new distances. It was launched in September 2009 with TriStar200 Andalucía in Spain and has rapidly grown ever since. While there were ten races in 2011, their number increased to 14 in 2012 and the future will see its further rise. The philosophy of Star Events represents the idea to organize sport events that are easily acces-sible for everyone with the desire to participate. Several innovative formats recognized by the ITU offer a perfect complementary solution between Olympic and long-distance triathlons. Main aspects of TriStar Races Fun, environmental protection and social responsibility are the three main aspects of all TriStar races.

TriStar takes the world‘s most popular sports disciples – swimming, cycling and running – to serve them in the most fun and enjoyable way. New formats attracting amateurs widen the scope of people interested in participation, which makes us witness rookies standing side by side with top triathletes. Beginners are pleased with the shorter distances and the possibility to join relay teams where they can focus on one of the three disciplines; professionals can use TriStar as a preparation for long-distance races. Shorter swim and run distances enable shortened recovery times, giving athletes the possibility to participate in more races than before.

More TriStar, more fun! TriStar already unveiled a handful of fresh, fun-oriented new features and there is much more to come. Legalizing drafting on some of the races (TriStar111 Madrid – 23.09.2012) makes them more thrilling than ever. Giving the possibility to race in teams of five (T5 TriStar Madrid – 22.09.2012) brings the team spirit back to a sport that was for a long time perceived as individual. TriStar comes to break down the old-fashioned triathlon mindset and makes everyone enjoy their race in a new, exciting way.

social responsibilityTriStar’s philosophy is based on three elements. It combines perfectly organized events that are fun with environmental sustainability and the health aspect as well as the social commitment.

The major focus stays on local projects which have the possibility to present themselves publicly during our events.

For the TriStar Kufstein we have chosen the Kinder Krebs Hilfe Tirol und Vorarlber that you can support through participating in the Charity Run and the Children Aquathlon.

Running for children suffering from cancerJuly 13th at 19 o’clock local athletes and teams from local companies will participate in the 5 km Charity run which is open for everyone. Starting at the lower main square (Unterer Stadplatz) you will run a 5 km loop along the Inn (don’t forget your running shoes!).

Of course there will be an awards ceremony afterwards. The total amount of the 8 € start fee will be donated together with the revenues from the Children Aquathlon to the Kinder Krebs Hilfe Tirol und Vorarlberg. You will have further donation possibilities during the whole TriStar weekend.

sWIm – 1km in the hechtsee

The 1000m and 500m will be held in one loop in the crystal clear, green jewel Hechtsee which is embedded in luscious woods and surrounded by the great Alps panorama.

TransITIon 1 swim / Bike

After finishing the swimming part the course leads you to the first transition zone on the parking of the Lido. At the same spot you have already checked in your bike and your “BIKE” transition bag on Saturday. After transition you attack the bike course.

BIKe – 100 km / 50 km

With the Hechtsee in your back you will first descent in direction to Kufstein. After a short breather the climb to the turning point begins. Now it’s getting fast! Down to Kufstein, which is where the first round will start. Mother nature will offer you phe-nomenal panoramic views on the enchanted highlands and deep, wide valleys. The track leads you to Langkampfen alongside the Inn river towards Angath, up the hill to Angerberg, Breitenbach and Mariastein. Nature provides amazing views, fairy tale landscapes and valleys on the entire bike course where you will climb about 1050 m (111) and 900 m (55.5) difference in altitude.

TransITIon 2 Bike / run

After that you head directly to Kufstein, passing by the upper Main Square (oberer Stadtplatz), taking a glance at the finish line, receiving the ovations of the spectators which will give you new energy. While reaching the 2nd transi-tion zone indoor you will be cheered on by the crowd on the tribunes which will definitely be another highlight during the race.

rUn – 10 km / 5 km

The course runs on the shores of the river Inn through the whole city of Kufstein, which presents itself at its best on two and a half running rounds (111) and one and a half round (55.5). The participants will enjoy a fantastic panoramic view with the luscious and green river Inn and the historic fortress on the Festungsberg. They will have the unique chance to closely experience the spectators on the whole raceway with almost the full track in their view as well as at the finishline in the heart of Kufstein.

everyone is chasing him! After his triumph at the TriStar Salzkammergut alberto Casadei decided to participate in theTriStarKufstein as well, in order to fight for his second TriStar victory. Naturally, Jens Kaiser (4th Ironman Re-gensburg 2012), Till schramm (TriStar Ambassador), Joseph spindler (twice winner Cologne-Triathlon), Andrej Vistica (3rd at Croatian Federal Championship 2011) and massimo Cigana (former professional cyclist with marco pantani in the team Mercatone Uno) will not surrender without a struggle. This means that the inaugural edition of the TriStar Kufstein July 15th certainly will heat up the Hechtsee.

The race in the female PRO field will, however, definitely be as appealing as the male one. Ute stre-iter (2nd Ironman Regensburg 2012), lisa hütthaler (Austrian Federal Champion Olympic distance 2012) and Diana riesler (winner TriStar Sardinia 2010) will jump in the water fighting for the victory. On race day at noon you will see who of the PROs will accomplish first the 1 km of swimming, the 100 km of biking and 10 km running and who will hold up the finisher band.

The race over the short distance (500m swimming, 50km biking and 5km running) is going to be thrilling as well. Will the Austrian mario siller manage to gain his second TriStar victory after the one in Salzkammergut? Christian Troger (silver at European Championship Paratriathlon 2012) a very ex-ceptional triathlete is participating in the TriStar55.5 as well. He is a professional triathlete, two times ironman as well as TriStar55.5 Salzkammergut finisher wearing a prosthesis since his birth.
