Impressive growthOver the last few years, growth of the Trisa Group was in the double digits and sales are poised to exceed a quarter billion. But instead of growth, the top priority is the constant search for better solutions so that growth follows natu-rally. The Trisa Group generates more than three-quarters of its sales with oral care products and the remainder with housekeeping and hair care products. Trisa Holding is legally divided into six independent competency centres employing more than 1000 people, including over 30 ap-prentices.

Relationship to metal processingThe relationship to mechanics and metal process-ing is mainly due to the production of tooth-brush handles using the injection moulding pro-cess. Premium injection moulding equipment requires high-quality mould construction. With

Trisa: Global success by putting people fi rstTrisa Triengen is a model company. Anyone producing more than a mil-lion toothbrushes a day in the high-wage country of Switzerland and exporting 85% of these products of daily use all over the world has certainly done their homework. An even more fascinating aspect of the Surental company is the “Trisa Spir-it”. Driven by the Christian tenor of the owners, Trisa introduced cutting-edge employee profi t sharing mod-els and a supervisory board with equal representation back in the sev-enties. Employees are encouraged to get involved in union activities. “Social partners do not have to be antipodes,” Ernst Pfenninger writes in a company magazine.

Interesting industrial historyThe history of Trisa is closely linked to that of the community of Triengen: In the 19th century, the dirt-poor Surental natives were largely self-suffi -cient and lived from linen weaving conducted in their homes. Campaigners came to the village from Southern Germany, where a second main pillar of support was to be established in addi-tion to brush making, in order to entice skilled hand weavers from Switzerland to come to Ger-many. A few families decided to leave, and some of their descendants later returned to Triengen – as learned brush makers. And so brush making started in the Surental. Unfortunately the factory was soon forced to declare bankruptcy and, out of concern for the local population, a few gentle-men completed what would now be called a “friendly takeover”: On August 25, 1887, they founded the new Triengen Brush Factory in the “Zur Eintracht” public house with share capital of Fr. 40 000.–; the primal cell, the modern Trisa!

Uniform rounding of the bristle ends is a quality characteristic of every Trisa toothbrush and is continuously verified in the production process

its own apprenticeship workshop where it edu-cates automation engineers, polymechanics and mechatronics engineers as well as mechanical and plant engineers, Trisa conducts internal em-ployee training for the future. For capacity rea-sons, mould construction is limited to test moulds and prototypes as well as changes. CNC program-ming and maintenance engineering forms a sec-ond focal point. The highly modern production facilities with plenty of robot technology place high demands on production experts.

Relationship to Brütsch/Rüegger ToolsThe similarities between the two companies are no coincidence! One the one hand, our roots go back equally far in the era of industrialisation. On the other hand, both companies have similar fundamental principles. Employee appreciation builds a culture of above-average performance which, in its effi ciency and humanity, is more than just an alternative to other management methods. This does not exclude modernity: Trisa is on the cutting edge in terms of production and procurement and uses tools such as the Toolshop www.brw.ch, where all cost centres of the three production facilities distributed throughout the village of Triengen are recorded for a single monthly invoice! If you would like to know more about Trisa of Switzerland, visit www.trisa.ch!

Reduce costs by up to 60% with FIBRO pneumatic springs!Pneumatic springs can be used instead of latch lock-ing units wherever stroke movements are required in addition to tool opening movements.Developed especially for mould construction, the new FIBRO Mould Line (FML) pneumatic springs feature high force with compact dimensions, a lifespan of at least 1 million cycles and a continuous operating temperature of 120° C. High-quality FI-BRO pneumatic springs are available with forces ranging from 4 daN to 18300 daN and stroke lengths from 6 mm to 300 mm. The springs do not require prestressing and feature variable force ad-justment. Unlike with latch locking units, pending failure can be recognised in a timely manner by means of pressure sampling.

Naturally, FML pneumatic springs are certifi ed ac-cording to the European Pressure Equipment Direc-tive DGRL 97/23/EC (14.GSGV (German Equipment Safety Act), Pressure Equipment Ordinance). Using pneumatic springs instead of latch locking units can reduce costs by up to 60%! This is achieved by means of simple installation with various mount-ing options as well as the elimination of lateral pro-cessing in order to mount latch locking units.

To Excellence with Competence! by Cay von Fournier, SchmidtColleg,Berlin and St. Gallen Successful companies have a corporate cultureCompanies need technically, creatively and socially competent employees and managers – now more than ever. This is why successful companies continuously improve these skills. Technical competence forms the foundation for sound performance. But this alone is not enough. Market success also requires creative and social competence. Everyone has creative potential. The trick for a company is to recog-nise and promote this potential. Social com-petence is in particularly high demand. In many cases, small gestures such as a warm greeting or a thank you as a sign of recogni-tion and appreciation make the difference between a good and an excellent company.

Thread cutting in INOX with emulsion? Impossible? No, not with the ECO-INOX thread cutter by PRO-TOTYP. With this tool, threads can be cut in tough materials even without cutting oil. Diameters range from M3 to M12. Both blind hole and continuous threads can be cut. The clamping surface facilitates clamping for synchronous thread cutting. Take a look at page 887 of the new Toolbook to get an overview of our selection!
