Keeping millennials in mind, Trip’s personality is colorful and bold and taking a nod to our audience’s love of digital media, Trip’s content will be presented like candy: strong, succinct, and beautifully packaged. Working on the first issue of Trip has been so much fun; from exploring the best culinary treats in D.C. to sailing the lapis Mediterranean Ocean waters. Trip Travel Journal hopes to inspire the wanderlust in everyone; from short jaunts exploring local gems to international adventures abroad. I feel honored to serve as Editor-in-Chief to this fresh new travel publication and invite our readers to submit suggestions, comments, stories, and images to our website Trip.com, or to our social media outlets.

Within the past few years, we have made amazing leaps in the aspect of technology. From computers the size of a small bedroom to computers that sit on your lap. From Graham Bell’s first telephone to handheld mobile phones with unlimited potential, our advances are mind blowing. Everything is now available for the public online, and with millennials taking this new age by storm, it hasn’t come a moment too soon. So what is it us millennials love most about technology? Freedom, adventure and most importantly new discoveries. Traveling the world is one of life greatest adventures, and millennials are all about it. But what once consisted of calling in a few favors for cheaper prices or navigating by paper maps has been transformed and coded into ones and zeros. Our “Euro Trip” department was on the search for a few helpful mobile applications for the technological traveler in order to make his or her experi-ence easy, cheap and loads of fun. So here is the rundown of what we found.

EASYJET: This particular app can be very useful in making your trip easier to manage. “EasyJet” allows our travelers to search, book and manage their flight from their own smartphone. One can even download boarding passes through their mobile device for any flight departing from any affiliating airport. Unsure which airports EasyJet associates with? Simple, just open the app and do a search for the airport you wish to depart from. The best part is, the mobile boarding pass is completely compatible with all airport bag, security and gate checks. Just pull up the app and let them scan you through to your dream vacation.

SKYSCANNER: Here is the situation. You found the trip you’ve been looking for, you find the hotel, and you have the time off work and in desperate need of a getaway. The price is right on every aspect of the deal, except the flight. Out-rageous prices on airline tickets plague us all, until now. Skyscanner is the app for you. Skyscanner compares millions of flights across the airliner community to find the price that works for you. Within seconds the cheapest price for that dream trip is staring you in the face just begging for you to put your finger on

the purchase button. But wait, what happens if you don’t have a preplanned destination and you spontaneously want to take a trip? You’re in luck, just choose a day and a departure airport in the “Everywhere” search section and low priced tickets to any destination will be thrown your way. It can’t get any

easier, or cheaper than this folks.

YELP: Is it your first time in a different country? Yelp is the app for you. With your phones access to your location Yelp will find and display reviews on millions of different areas near you that you might want to check out. Be it a business, restaurant, shopping mall or bar, relaxation or excitement is just a quick finger stroke away. You can even narrow your search results to a specific activity or search by price, distance or what is open near you. With millions of reviews you can get a sense of the surrounding area without even setting foot in a building. Are you trying to decide between two different restaurants, Yelp the names and find out which one has the best résumé. One person in particular that we were able to come in contact with, found this app very useful. Karleena Delphey, 21 year old Shippensburg student says this app was the deciding factor on a few dining trips during her stay in Europe this past summer. “When we were in a big group, no one wanted to make the decision as to where we should eat. I remembered this app from my trip to Las Vegas, pulled it out, and within seconds four different restaurants popped up within a quarter mile. We quickly made our decision after seeing one place with a five star rating.” Karleena said. “Without it we might have argued until we starved.” These are just the top three of a wide variety of mobile apps mil-lennials may find useful in their travels. What makes these the best you may ask, they are all free. All you need is a smartphone or tablet, a little internet connection and an eye for adventure. With new technologies come endless possibilities. For millennials, this is just the beginning.

I met up with Adams Morgan local Pasresh Patel who credits The Diner for having the best French toast on the East Coast and for helping him find the love of his life.“I was to be interviewed for the local NPR station and Sarah called me to set up a time and place to meet to conduct the interview. She let me choose the place and we met at The Diner. It was more crowded than normal, driving us closer together as she asked me questions about the flailing economy and the nearing Fiscal Cliff, real exciting stuff,” Patel laughs. “After the interview she ordered a slice of sour cherry pie and a hot chocolate and I knew I would end up marrying her. We got married a few months ago and we moved to Adams Morgan to be closer to great restaurants and exciting nightlife. We frequent here [The Diner] for their Sunday brunch,” he points to a small table near the

kitchen door, “We always try to get the table where we first met.”

I wish for four stomachs and unlimited metro fare every time I’m in Washing-ton D.C. There’s so much to love about D.C.: shows at dirty dive bars, free ad-mission to the National Gallery of Art, going in to debt in Georgetown, people watching in Dupont Circle Park, spending hours in Kramer Books, avoiding eye contact on the metro (something I learned after getting strange glances from strangers I eagerly smiled at). With all that being said, my favorite part of the nation’s capital is that each stop on the red line provides plenty of options depending on your culinary desires.

The Diner, Adams Morgan

Every time I've been to this place it's incredibly crowded but trust me, the food is well worth the wait. The Honey Badger milkshake is one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth; vanilla ice cream with honey and bananas and the portions are large enough to share.

I discovered this cute little pizza shop tucked a few blocks away from the Du-pont Circle metro thanks to the wonderful mobile deals app, Scout Mob. The site promised delicious wood- fired oven pizza topped with a "bucket of fresh mozzarella," a genuine community vibe rarely found in rapidly gentrifying Washington D.C., and 50 percent off the price of your meal. Buckets of cheese and cheap? I'm so there. "Every neighborhood needs a great pizzeria," said Brian, one of Pizza No. 17's owners. And while that seems like an opinion, I assure you that as someone who lives in Pizza No. 17's vicinity, that statement is a fact. Nothing preten-tious about it, this pizzeria uses a wood-fired oven to make some of the tastiest

Ben's Chili Bowl, U Street Corridor

Since 1958, Ben's Chili Bowl has been serving the masses with the best chili half-smoke around. Smoked Italian sausage, smothered in chili, and topped with cheese...bliss on a bun. Located directly across the street from the U Street metro station, the establishment is an explosion of colors and lights, setting itself apart from the otherwise drab businesses on the block. The smells of smoked sausage mixed with the murmur of those waiting in the line that stretched out the door seemed like an invita-tion for some of the best food D.C. has to offer, I asked the woman next to me what she liked best about Ben’s Chili Bowl.

It turns out that she has lived in this neighborhood for most of her life and looks forward to a chili half-smoke that’s just around the corner.“I probably eat here more than I should, I love their chili!” admits Lydia Davis, local Washingtonian and fan of Ben’s Chili Bowl. “This has been a thriving Afri-can American community for as far back as I can remember, always alive with theaters and jazz clubs, and Ben’s has been a cornerstone for over 40 years.”

Z-Burger, Columbia Heights

Last stop was yet another amazing restaurant I’d never heard of, once again brought to my attention from Scout Mob, my go-to app for amazing deals on all things D.C. On their website I read: “Have you ever eaten a burger in a pal-ace? Technically, I guess I still haven't, but after frequenting Z-Burger in the old Tivoli Theatre in Columbia Heights, I feel like I kinda did. Seriously, when you go, don't forget to look up. Soaring over the cash registers and the open kitch-en is a vaulted ceiling from last century. Even more awesome, are the original murals posted up above the dining area over the ornate crown moulding. Like, is this real life?

The juicy burger I was biting into told me it was. No wonder Z-Burger's garnered attention from everyone from the Washingtonian to The History Channel. This. Place. Is. Righteous.”Located in the old Tivoli Theater in Columbia Heights, Z Burger brings the best of both worlds together; awesome food and old architecture. Art sweeps across the ceiling bringing the customers' eyes upwards as they bite into their

juicy burger.
