INDIANAPOLIS CULTURAL TRIP Saturday, April 8th TRIO students boarded a charter bus to Indianapolis, IN. Students and staff visited the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Circle Centre Mall, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Children’s Museum. After a busy day of site seeing, everyone dined at Fogo de Chao, the famous Brazilian steak house.

Peer Mentors Needed for Fall 2017
SIC TRIO is currently looking for mentors to serve for the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 semester.
Mentoring TRIO students is a rewarding experience. Peer Mentors meet with
fellow students to assist with support and leadership on campus.
In order to be considered you must possess the following:
1) Minimum 2.5 GPA (cumulative) 2) Must have been enrolled at SIC for at least two consecutive semesters prior to submitting the
application
3) Must have been in TRIO/SSS program for at least one year and in good standing.

SIC wins the Sylvia Mariner Perpetual Sweepstakes Award!
This award rewards programs for a legacy of excellence. Each year it is given to the team who has the most points scored at nationals over a number of years. SIC last won in 2003. EVERY TEAM MEMBER from that point to now has added to this great honor! We are so proud of our Forensic Falcons! They also placed 2nd IN THE NATION in individual events, 4th, over all!

Southeastern Illinois College held its Student Government Inauguration Ceremony for the 2016-17 academic year on Thursday, Oct. 6. TRIO members on Student Government include Stephanie Johns, Treasurer from Carmi; Dana Hooven, President from Harrisburg; and Josue Urbina, Student Representative. The Southeastern Illinois College Student Government is the only recognized representative body for the student community, and it has a number of different functions – from helping fund many student-run organizations to addressing student issues and concerns, to proposing resolutions that brings about change in the academic and social life of campus. The student body elects members of the Student Government.

TRIO STUDENTS COMPETE ON SIC ARCHERY TEAM
When the dust settled at the 2016 US Intercollegiate Archery North Regional Division I Championships, held September 17 on the campus of Southeastern Illinois College, the SIC archery falcons had garnered a total of seven out of eight regional titles in head-to-head competition with Hocking College located in Nelsonville, Ohio.
Southeastern also won three team titles. In the women’s bow hunter division, Alli Armstrong, and TRIO students, Jessica Morris of Golconda, and Makayla McKenzie of Carmi took top honors.
