Cancer! That dreaded word. Jim Brucker, Sherry Seckel, people on our prayer list. Now my father has bladder

cancer. We found out the day after getting back from Pennsylvania when we helped our youngest son move into a new house. My brother passed away from cancer back in 2012. My wife’s mother died of cancer. Cancer is a dreadful disease and yet God is greater. I don’t know how long my father has to live. But in the case of my brother, cancer brought him to faith in Christ and salvation. And I’m sure cancer will draw my father closer to God. It is drawing us together as a family. In our hearts the dread is not only the disease, but also facing one’s own death or facing the loss of a loved one. Praise God that this life isn’t all there is. This reality doesn’t make it easy to face the loss or impending loss of a loved one. Especially if they are not at what should be the end of their years. My brother was only 51. My dad is 84. His dad, my grandpa died when he was 83 when I was a senior in high school in September 1976. I hope my father lives on and this cancer is treated and healed. But I rejoice in all that God is going to do through this situation. Pray, pray, pray! Trust, trust, trust in the God who loves us and saves us and heals us. Amen.

In His Strength,

Pastor Jeff

Answers

Answers to prayers come in various ways,

sometimes in minutes, sometimes in days. And some take years to fully unfold the harvest of love and blessings they

hold.

Answers to prayers come in various forms,

sometimes in sunlight, sometimes through storms.

Message from the Lay Leader:

Hello Church Family,

I’m encouraged to see many people who want to worship with us on Sunday! Soon the nominating committee will be meeting to bolster our committees and boards in order to meet the Charge Conference deadline. No wait. We will be asking some to join with us to “reach out to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” That means -- it is time to say “Yes!”

Having said that, I’m pretty sure that even after those positions get filled, there will still be jobs available that may not necessarily get voted on. So be sure to share with someone from the nominating committee that you are available and what your skills might be and where your interests lie. The chairperson of the committee is Pastor Jeff.

Personally, I see the biggest needs are in the children/ Sunday school/ youth area. And there are a few gaps yet in the music area of worship. We all are different parts of the same body, the body of Christ’s church.

Peace, Anne Cotton

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN NEWS

“Yet He has not left Himself

without testimony; He has

shown KINDNESS by giving

you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He

provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts

with joy.” Acts 14:17 (NIV)

What an awesome God we have!! He provides us

with food and shelter along with His Love and Joy.

Like God, we need to show KINDNESS to those

around us. Please take the time to think of others

and pray for their well-being and happiness. A little

bit of KINDNESS can go a long way toward making

a new friend or renewing a friendship with a long-

time friend. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate

that you do for them, just saying hello, opening a

door, or running an errand for them is a wonderful

act of KINDNESS; and, I am sure, will be very much

appreciated.

Our UMW Picnic was held on August 9th at the

home of Carol and Gary Begeman. It was so nice

that they welcomed us into their home, as the rain

would have been hard to deal with at an outdoor

picnic. The Lord sure does take care of us and gives

His Blessings to us constantly. Thank you to

everyone who brought the delicious food for the

picnic, and a big thank you to Carol and Gary for

inviting us into their beautiful home.

Our September 13th UMW meeting will be held at

2:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Church,

since there is a Blood Drive being held in the Trinity

Hall that afternoon.

For our October 11th meeting, we will start with a

tour at Heartbeat of Morrow County at 7:00 p.m. All

of the Ladies of the Church are invited to tour this

Facility, to be introduced to their Program, and learn

of the Services that they offer to our Youth. We will

then gather back at the Church for a short business

meeting. All ladies of the church are welcome to

attend!!

We hope all of you will be safe and stay well during

this unpredictable virus that keeps us on our toes.

With the Lord’s Help, we will survive.

May God Bless, Noni Wheeler UMW President

Trustees Moments

Hello Trinity!

Fall is just around the corner. We will slowly be converting our thinking to projects that are fall oriented.

The sanctuary wall repair remains on the docket. With some of the heavy rains that we have encountered during July assures me all the more that the roof repairs made last spring are working. We have seen no change in the severity of wall damage in weeks, which is good news.

Other items still hanging include church phone system replacement, upgrading the technology in Trinity Hall and the Upper Room, reviewing our church/parsonage insurance coverage carrier and installing a heater in the elevator to keep the hydraulic oil warm during winter months to stabilize critical cold weather operating issues.

The next trustee meeting is September 7th. There are many small items on the things-to-do list in the next few months. This is an ongoing process considering the newest portion of the church building is 40 to 50 years old. If you become concerned about anything that may need attention, contact any trustee.

Pray for the USA! Gary Begeman, Chairman

Rummage Sale Request –

Several people have said they cannot help during the

Rummage Sale and they have no treasures to donate but still wish to help in some way. For those folks,

please consider donating “supplies”. Dollar Tree and Drug Mart are reasonably priced and serve our needs very well. We can

always use: masking tape, clear tape, permanent black markers and plastic bags

that seal – gallon, quart, sandwich and snack size. Thanks for asking. We appreciate all help!! ~ Sandy Snyder

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Because of our Child Protection Policy, we need

a 2nd person in the nursery with Diana Kemp during the Sunday school

hour and during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Please contact the church office if you are able to help during either of these

times at [email protected] or 419-947-6040. There are also sign-up sheets in

the nursery. Thanks to all those who volunteered in the nursery: Gary Begeman, Tom Cotton, Christy Egler, Robin Brucker,

and Alberta Stojkovic.

2021 Altar Flowers Sign up Calendar

The Altar flower sign-up sheet

for 2021 is hanging up and is located in the hall next to the workroom. Make sure you write who is purchasing the flowers and

who they are “In Memory of” or “In Honor of”. The cost of the flowers is $30. Please mark “Altar Flowers” in memo line of your check made out to Trinity UMC. The church office orders flowers for anyone who has signed up the week before the Sunday they are for. If you decide to get them yourself at another florist, please let the church office know in advance. Thank you!

LOW IMPACT/STEP AEROBICS CLASS

Exercise to Energize - Classes are on

Mondays & Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

We exercise with music and mix in

light weights and floor exercises. We

would love to have you join us! If you

have any questions, ask Allen or

Alberta Stojkovic 419-946-4982.

REIMBURSEMENT VOUCHERS

If you make any authorized purchases for the church, please return the original

receipt and a completed Voucher to the church office within one month of the purchase. This will insure that you receive your reimbursement on time and it also helps the church keep its accounts up to date and accurate. Blank Vouchers are available in the church office.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND USE OF FACILITIES

We are fortunate to have a facility that is busy through the year. If you plan to hold a special event, work session or other function in the church, please make sure to check availability of date and time with the church office as far in advance as possible. A Building Use form may need to be completed and returned for approval and signature by the Trustee Committee. The forms are available in the church office or may be emailed by the office at your request. Your cooperation in this process helps everyone coordinate use of the facility. Thank you!
