Dear Trinity members, A new chapter begins for Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the resignation of Pastor Mamy. Cindy and Bob Horton have been working on supply pastors for our upcoming services, who will provide pastoral care, and other duties. Bob and I met with Pastor Keith Hohly from synod, and have started the process of se-lecting an interim pastor. We will do our best to keep eve-ryone informed about
where we are in the process. Feel free to ask questions and we will try to answer them as we can. Please keep Trinity, Pastor Mamy, and his family in your prayers as we all start this new journey. To help in the transition please read the letter (page 8) concerning covenant for departing pastor as recom-mended by the synod. Thanks be to God, Curt Lewis Council President

To our Knitters and
Crocheters: as we head into the fall
season (and hopefully cool-er weather someday!) which
will be more conducive to getting out our yarns and
hooks and needles, we could use a few more prayer
shawls. We only have a couple on hand right now, and could always use a few
more.
Thanks!
Fall is here! What a beautiful time of year, and the beginning of the holiday season! Doorstep’s Fall Fundraiser is Tamales & Cin-namon Rolls this year. We are taking orders October 1st through October 16th. The Cin-namon Rolls with cream cheese icing (6 pack) are $9. These are perfect for the upcoming holidays! The Tamales come in pork or beef (6 pack) and are $12. These will be individual-ly wrapped and frozen. You just have to heat and eat! You can pick up your orders the weekend of November 4th from your Door-step representative. Our Fall fundraiser helps with client and operating expenses in the last
quarter of the year, and with our Christmas Store for adopted families. Get your orders in and don’t miss out on these yummy treats! Also, keep an eye on school supplies and back packs as they go on clearance! Doorstep gives school supplies to the school-aged children we adopt at Christmas. Pick up some great bargains and help us restock these children for the second half of the school year! Doorstep is open for donations Monday – Friday from 8am – 3pm. We are located at 1119 SW 10th Avenue (10th & Buchanan).
Sunday October 2 at 5pm. Luther Place II Gazebo.

BLESSING OF THE
ANIMALS
The second in the series of fall studies titled "When God Forgives the Guilty" will be the topic for the next Bible study. The session will be based on the parable of the workers in the vineyard, Matthew 20: 1-7. The lesson
will take us into the discussion of what hap-pens when God blesses the undeserving. Come join us in the Trinity Library at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday October 19. All are welcome!
WELCA News
Trinity Tidings October 2016 Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Page 6
October 1 it will be 147 days since Pentecost Sunday. That's 21 weeks of exhortations to meet our goal of a contribution from every member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for the Pentecost Project. So, should we be downhearted because we didn't receive a submission from every single member? Not at all. Those who made the choice to tell their story of the Holy Spirit working in their lives, or created a devotion or meditation on the gifts or the fruits of the Holy Spirit are enriched by having searched their own hearts, taken time for deep contemplation, and surely have a deep sense of satisfaction for having shared a very personal part of themselves. We give thanks to God, the Holy Spirit, who guided them on their journey of faith.
The work of the Pentecost Project Task Force now becomes one of shaping these contributions into a publication which will be shared by all -- all those in our con-gregation and as far as our re-sources allow. As we have for the last 21 weeks, we'll keep you updated each week so you can follow the progress of this exciting Pentecost Project. Keep watching!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Pastor Mamy Ranaivoson and the Congregation Council have signed a covenant, which helps us understand our rela-tionship with one another as we move forward without him. When a pastor leaves a congregation or retires, it is not ap-propriate for him to continue to function in the pastoral role. This is difficult and sometimes painful for us to under-stand. However, if we remember that part of our calling as the people of God is to care for the body of Christ and not injure different members of it, we might find it easier to ac-cept. For instance, if a pastor does a funeral for Jane because she was so special, why won’t the pastor perform a baptism for Joe’s family? It’s easy to see how hurt feelings would not only affect Joe’s feelings toward the former pastor but per-haps also feelings within the body of Christ between Jane’s family and Joe’s family. It is important for us to understand that as of August 29, 2016 Pastor Mamy is no longer our pastor but he will pray for our continued and future mission and ministry and for a strong and fruitful partnership with our future pastoral lead-er. Therefore Pastor Mamy cannot:
• Come back to perform weddings, funerals, or bap-tisms;
• Visit the sick and the homebound;
• Continue in any counseling relationship with a parish-ioner;
• Be involved in any way in the call process (helping with the profile, recommending candidates, com-menting on a particular candidate);
• Support or give advice to anyone involved in a congre-gational disagreement;
• Return to lead worship services (unless down the road he is invited back as a “former pastor” to participate in a special event, such as a church anniversary).
We give thanks to God for the time Pastor Mamy was with us and we pray for him as he now goes forth to serve God and the church in new ways. We are working with the synod office to find an interim pastors and eventually enter in the call process for a new pastor. We trust that God will send us a new leader who will be called to serve God and the minis-try of this congregation for the next stage of our ministry. In Christ, Curt Lewis Council President
We invited firemen from our neighborhood fire station to eat lunch with us in honor of their service and in remembrance of emergency personnel who served and died on Sept. 11, 2001.
