Trinity Steeple Notes
Announcements and Events: May 14, 2017
Jazz Worship: May 21 at 11:00 AM
Please join us for a Sunday of jazz on May 21st
with Lars Potteiger and his trio, featuring special
guests vocalist Robin Work and bassist Tom
Hilliker from the Lancaster area.
This service will feature jazz renditions of classic
and contemporary hymns with a theme of the
Holy Spirit moving and inspiring us in our everyday walk with Christ. The trio
will also join the Trinity Choir for a special rendition of “Just a Closer Walk
with Thee.” We hope that you are able to attend this
special service celebrating jazz in worship.
(The 8:30 service will meet
as usual in the chapel in a
more traditional service.)
Thank you to those who
have offered gifts to support
Jazz Worship. We are
looking for a few more
donors to sponsor the cost of the band ($800). If you
can help, please mark your envelope JAZZ and place
it in the offering plate.

Summer Worship Begins Sunday, May 28
Beginning on Sunday, May 28, we begin our summer worship schedule of
one service at 9:30 AM in the nave. Trinity Deaf will worship at
9:30 AM in the chapel. Please stay for fellowship after worship in the
Hintz Room.
Pentecost Sunday and Annual Congregational Meeting on June 4
Pentecost Sunday is June 4. We will celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit in many
and various ways.
• We will hear multiple languages as part of our first reading. IF YOU CAN READ A
LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH and are able to participate by reading a short
passage, please talk to Pastor Alan or Deaconess Deborah.
• We will focus on Global Missions of the ELCA.
• We will receive special offerings to purchase Bibles in the native
languages of those who long to hear the Gospel. A donation of only $12
purchases a Bible! You can share God’s Word like the Pentecost disciples!
• We will celebrate Learning Ministries and the ways the Spirit moves
among those who teach and learn at Trinity.
• We will sing hymns from many traditions and nations.
• You are encouraged to wear red, the liturgical color of Pentecost, and to donate a
geranium to beautify our worship space. Gift forms are in the May newsletter, chapel
hall and on the counter in the narthex.
Remember that the Annual Meeting will follow our single 9:30 service.

Donation Collection for Opp Shop
Month of May on the auditorium stage
This month, the Mission & Service Committee invites you to
donate your gently used items to the Opp Shop to benefit
Opportunity House’s programs for homeless families. We will
also share our donations with our Common Ground Ministry guests to meet their
needs. A complete listing of accepted items is on the Opportunity House website.
When you bring in your items to Trinity, please have them in boxes or sturdy bags so
that we can easily load them onto the truck at the end of the month. If you have large
items or a large quantity of items, you can contact Opportunity House at (610) 374-4696
