INSTRUCTIONS: Preparation: Refer to the pattern and drill a 1/4" hole as indicated. Sand plaque and wipe clean. Seal plaque and let dry. Sand lightly again and wipe clean. Refer to photo throughout for painting. Transfer pattern and detail lines as needed. Let dry between coats and steps. Some colors will require more than one coat to cover. Use the brush size you are most comfortable with for all areas.

Note on the 3 small wood bats: I used these bats for embellishments and to cover up the one pre-drilled hole in the plaque I did not use. I used what I had in my ‘stash’. If you don’t have any, you can cut them out of 1/8” wood. (You can also cut them from black cardstock).

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:Basecoat as follows:

Background: Purple Cow

Witch’s Hat: Lamp Black

Hat band: Lavender

Witch’s face and hands: Warm Beige

Small Sign: Fawn

Dress: Irish Moss

Stockings: Grape Juice and heels of socks are Irish Moss

Spider: Lamp Black (but do not apply his legs)

Pumpkin: Spiced Pumpkin

Small bats (if using): Lamp Black

Witch’s face/hands: Using Shading Flesh, shade all around the outside edge of the face and on the hands closest to the sleeves. Apply facial details with Lamp Black. Place ‘tiny dots’ in the eyes with Snow White. Apply cheeks with a Q-tip and either cheek chalk or Country Red. Apply hair with Country Red and a few strands of Irish Moss and Lamp Black. Mix a very small amount of Dark Chocolate with Warm Beige, to just make it darker. Use this mix to ‘dot’ on her nose.

Witch’s dress: Using Hauser Dark Green, very lightly shade in the lines separating the body of the dress from the sleeves; along the lower edge of the sleeves; the lines forming the little ‘puff s’ on sleeves closest to the hands and all along the lower edge of the dress and around the top of her stockings. Using Citron Green, highlight along the top edge of the sleeves and the inside edges of the little ‘puff s’ near the hands. Using Lamp Black, apply the ‘bats’ to the body of the dress and the ‘dots’ on the dress and sleeves. Using Irish Moss, apply smaller ‘dots’ on top of the black dots. Us-ing Burnt Orange, randomly apply ‘dots’ to the dress and sleeves.

Witch’s Hat: shade the outside edges of the Lavender band with Grape Juice. Apply a very light highlight to the center of the band with Snow White. Freehand ap-ply the stars to the top of the hat with Grape Juice.

Witch’s stockings: Apply the line pattern using Purple Cow. Shade around the heel section with Dioxizine Purple. Apply the pattern to the heel area using the 1/8” check stencil and Lamp Black.

Small Sign: Using Dark Chocolate, lightly shade all around the outside edge of the sign and apply the pole for the sign.

Pumpkin: Using Burnt Orange, apply the lines dividing the pumpkin into segments, lightly shade all around her stockings and shade the outer two segments along their top areas. Using Orange Twist, highlight the out-side edges of the center section and dry brush high-lights in the center of the outer two segments. Using Burnt Orange and the 1/8” stencil, apply the random check pattern.

Spider: Apply the facial details using Snow White. Using Lamp Black, place a ‘tiny dot’ in the eye; apply the legs and string holding spider to the witch’s hand. (Optional: Apply cheek blush with either cheek chalk or Country Red.)

Wood Bats: ‘Dot’ the eyes with Snow White.

Background and Stenciling: Referring to the photo, us-ing the various stencils and Lamp Black, stencil on the background words and add the ‘BOO’ to the small sign. Add small words randomly until you are happy with the look. When done, randomly dry brush Burnt Orange, Irish Moss and Grape Juice in the background. Using Grape Juice, shade around the outside edge of the light purple section of the plaque.

Finishing: Let dry completely. Make sure all pattern lines are erased. Apply several light coats of Matte Varnish. Let dry. Glue on wood bats, making sure one of them covers the unused pre-drilled hole. Hang with your choice of ribbon/wire/raffi a. Enjoy!
