» TRICARE is the uniformed services health care program for active duty service members, active duty family members, National Guard and reserve members, retirees and retiree family members, survivors and certain former spouses worldwide.

» The TRICARE Overseas Program contract services all geographical areas outside of the 50 United States and Washington, DC.

• Also assists stateside TRICARE beneficiaries who receive care overseas

» The TRICARE Overseas Program consists of three regional offices:

• TRICARE Eurasia-Africa: Responsible for Africa, Europe and the Middle East • TRICARE Latin America and Canada: Responsible for Canada, the Caribbean

Basin, Central and South America, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands • TRICARE Pacific: Responsible for Asia, Guam, India, Japan, Korea, New

Zealand and Western Pacific remote countries

» TRICARE beneficiary service representatives are located at TRICARE service centers at military treatment facilities and provide the following services:

• Processing enrollments, disenrollments and transfers for the TRICARE Overseas Program

• TRICARE Overseas Program Prime, TRICARE Overseas Program Prime Remote and TRICARE Plus (if available)

• Assigning primary care managers based on the medical treatment facility protocols

• Handling primary care manager change requests

» Accessing care while traveling overseas • Obtain routine care prior to traveling • Emergency care

• Go to the nearest emergency room

– May be required to make up front payments for services received • Traveling in the Philippines

• Must obtain care from a certified host nation provider

» Regardless of which TRICARE option you use, you may contact the TRICARE Overseas Program regional call center for assistance in obtaining care

» Accessing care while traveling stateside

• TRICARE Overseas Program/Prime Remote beneficiaries traveling in the United States are encouraged to seek care from a military treatment facility, if one is located nearby.

• Emergency care • Urgent care • Routine care

» TRICARE Overseas Program Standard beneficiaries access care the same as the Standard beneficiaries in the United States.

» Who is eligible?

• TRICARE Overseas Program Prime, TRICARE Overseas Program Prime Remote, all active-duty service members overseas and stateside Prime active-duty family members.

» Aeromedical evacuations will only be approved for medically necessary care.

• All other beneficiary categories may need to pay upfront and submit a claim for reimbursement.

» For assistance, contact the TRICARE Overseas Program regional call center in your area.

» Military treatment facility:

• No charge

» Host nation pharmacy:

• Pay the full cost up front and file a claim with TRICARE for reimbursement

• Cost shares and deductibles apply

» Pharmacy claims:

• Send completed DD-2642 claim form, receipts and any documentation to:

» There are unique restrictions for home delivery overseas (not including U.S. territories) and all prescription medications are subject to local laws and policies.

» Outside of the United States and U.S. territories, mail order pharmacy is only available to beneficiaries with Army Post Office, Fleet Post Office or Diplomatic Post Office addresses.

» Refrigerated medications cannot be shipped to Army Post Office/Fleet Post Office/Diplomatic Post Office addresses.

» German law prohibits the shipment of prescription medications through the postal service. Home delivery is not available in Germany (even to Army Post Office/Fleet Post Office/Diplomatic Post Office addresses).

» Prescriptions must be written by U.S. licensed providers. Beneficiaries can update their Army Post Office/Fleet Post Office/Diplomatic Post Office and email addresses online at: http://www.express-scripts.com/TRICARE or http://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/bwe.

» Overseas active-duty service members in Prime locations must receive their care at the dental treatment facility. In TRICARE Overseas Program Prime Remote locations, all dental care for remote-enrolled active-duty service members is covered under the TRICARE Overseas Program contract.

» TRICARE Active Duty Dental Program only applies in the U.S and the U.S. territories. The Active Duty Dental Program contractor is United Concordia Companies, Inc.

» MetLife is the TRICARE Dental Program contractor, TRICARE Dental Program is available to active-duty family members, survivors, National Guard and reserve members and their family members and Individual Ready Reserve members and their family members (enrollment is required).

» TRICARE Retiree Dental Program is available for retired service members and their eligible family members, retired National Guard members and their eligible family members, certain survivors and Medal of Honor recipients and their immediate family members; enrollment is required. Delta Dental of California is the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program contractor.

» TRICARE Overseas Program network providers file claims for TRICARE Prime/Prime Remote beneficiaries.

» Beneficiaries do not need to file claims for medical treatment facility care.

• Claims are filed based on where the beneficiary resides (as noted in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System). Exception: Stateside beneficiaries who receive care overseas, must file their claims with the overseas claims processor.

• TRICARE Overseas Program claims must be filed within the timely filing period.

» The Department of Defense offers the Women, Infants and Children Overseas Program to eligible overseas beneficiaries.

» Eligible participants and their families receive health screenings, nutritious food and tips on how to prepare balanced meals.

» Those who may be eligible for the Women, Infants and Children Overseas program include:

• Pregnant women • Mothers • Infants and children
