ribe Hotels have always been clear about how to look aftermodern travellers. “We know it's not out-of-date services,hotel clichés or hidden extras. We started Tribe to create a

contemporary design-driven alternative. An edited hotel experience.”In the case of their state-of-the-art project in West Perth, this

meant circumventing traditional construction methods andembracing a smarter, more efficient production model than thoseused for average builds. “We've pioneered a proprietary modularbuild system that slashes construction costs and environmentalfootprints, allowing us to pass on the cost savings to our guests.”

To undertake this revolutionary project in the Australian hotelmarket, Tribe turned to Probuild, one of Australia's largest and most

successful construction experts, and Idle Architecture Studio.According to architect Anthony Pintaudi, the key designconsiderations were based on a firm commitment to enforcing theTribe brand “through innovative architectural design with high-quality finishes within a low-cost operation model”.

To that end, they utilised the flexibility of modular buildingcapabilities together with Tribe Modular's exclusivemanufacturing/construction facility. “The upfront designdevelopment and prototyping of the module design allowed for anefficient and high-quality end result.”

The studio team was just as focused on ensuring maximumefficiency in the use of space in order to reduce operational costs;and took advantage of innovative building services and fireengineering techniques.

One of the main challenges, according to Anthony, was solvingcomplex issues related to the integration of traditional buildingmethodology with modular construction.

The overall building specifications did, nevertheless, follow aclassic hotel model. The 126 rooms are distributed over seven
