The Trials of an Engineer

Page 2: Trials of an EngineerV5

The Customer had a requirement…

Page 3: Trials of an EngineerV5

With an offer we couldn’t refuse…

Page 4: Trials of an EngineerV5

And with our Sales team ‘in line’ for

commission…

Page 5: Trials of an EngineerV5

The contract was as good as done.

Page 6: Trials of an EngineerV5

So the design was ‘discussed’ with

Engineering…

Page 7: Trials of an EngineerV5

Who duly considered the specification…

Page 8: Trials of an EngineerV5

And under good management

direction…

Page 9: Trials of an EngineerV5

Applied effective teamwork…

Page 10: Trials of an EngineerV5

To make all the pieces come together…

Page 11: Trials of an EngineerV5

Towards a final solution…

Page 12: Trials of an EngineerV5

Then with normal cooperation with other

departments…

Page 13: Trials of an EngineerV5

And even ‘assisted’ cooperation with

other departments…

Page 14: Trials of an EngineerV5

Combined with full design freedom…

Page 15: Trials of an EngineerV5

And a clear understanding of the

timeframe…

(Design) (Marketing)

Page 16: Trials of an EngineerV5

A project plan was put together…

Page 17: Trials of an EngineerV5

With achievable milestones &

realistic timescales.

Page 18: Trials of an EngineerV5

As always, a few ‘obstacles’ were

encountered along the way…

Page 19: Trials of an EngineerV5

And unit profit margin was adjusted to

correct earlier optimism…

Page 20: Trials of an EngineerV5

Various options were then considered…

Page 21: Trials of an EngineerV5

Indeed all options!

Page 22: Trials of an EngineerV5

The work place was a stress-free

environment.

Page 23: Trials of an EngineerV5

And ‘state-of-the-ark’ equipment was

always reliable in demanding conditions…

Page 24: Trials of an EngineerV5

Engineers would be so busy that

5 o/c going home was never noticed…

Page 25: Trials of an EngineerV5

Finally the design was ‘passed’ over to

Production with a clear direction

forward…

Page 26: Trials of an EngineerV5

Where it was processed, ready for the

shop floor…

Page 27: Trials of an EngineerV5

To enable the Production Team to get to

work immediately as time was of essence...

Page 28: Trials of an EngineerV5

While the occasional problem could be a

bomb-shell, it was always handled

carefully...

(Design) (Production)

Page 29: Trials of an EngineerV5

A list of changes, if required, was always

minor in nature…

Page 30: Trials of an EngineerV5

Indeed the performance predicted by

Engineering…

Page 31: Trials of an EngineerV5

Could ‘always’ be achieved by

Production…

Page 32: Trials of an EngineerV5

But at the end of the day the job would

Pass inspection, & be ready to ship…

Page 33: Trials of an EngineerV5

The Team effort was rewarded with

thoughts of a shared sense of winning…

Page 34: Trials of an EngineerV5

And we could all go home Friday

knowing we had worked hard & could

look forward…

Page 35: Trials of an EngineerV5

To doing it all again on Monday!…

A career in Engineering?

You know it makes sense.
